Title: What Is An Invisible Deck ?
Description: is it a physical deck or a imaginary ?
wwdbs - August 2, 2006 09:37 AM (GMT)
I have heard of invisible deck.
I would like to know if this is a real physical deck or just a virtual or imaginary deck where you ask other person to imagine a card ?
in case it is a physical deck then what are some of the good dvds that have invisible deck routines ?
Thanks

the effect of an invisible deck is:
You ask a spectator to select any card, any card, you take the imaginary invisible card out from an invisible deck and put it face down among the rest. then you introduce a real deck. and it has only 1 and 1 card only face down. and the card turns out to be the spectator's freely selected card.
Quite a nice effect if you ask me. ^_^

Invisible deck is somewhat similar to Brainwave deck as well. For invisible deck, the chosen card is turn face down. Whereas in Brainwave deck, the card is the only face up card and the card has a different coloured back..

Both invisible deck as well as brainwave deck seem to be great effect.
Thanks for responding.

I know this thread has been stale for some time already... but i don't want to create another thread just for this question i'm gonna ask. I i thought i might as well use it since its related.
My question is whether the invisible deck can be examined by the audience before or after the effect.
Thanks

You can't but you don't have to let them examine too.

I see, I see. So ultimately you can't let them examine it. Thanks alot for clearing the doubt.

Actually, if you REALLY want, you can let them inspect, either before or after.
Just do a D**k S****h, if you care to do it.

i think D**K S****h is too troublesome. If it is done properly, and you allow your spec pull out the card themselves and turn it around to see if it really is the card they were thinking of, it would be enough to freak them out.
Most important part of this effect is that you spread through the ENTIRE deck to show that there is only ONE card turned upside down and not stop when you reach the spec's card. This will eliminate any doubts the spec might have.
Anyway cyril has a very clever routine using the invisible deck. And i think some magicians might not know that he is using the invisible deck even if they know the principles of a invisible deck. Therefore i have decided not to post the link here. But really, all i can say is that it is bloody convincing. Those who have seen it would know what im talkin about.

Pardon me, but I'm still new to magic and can't decipher D**K S****H right now. But i somehow get your meaning. Either present in a way that would convince your audience that your deck is a normal deck, or use a technique to cover up the fact that the deck is gimmicked.
I was considering getting an invisible deck. The effects are solid, but as always, at the back of my mind is the question of how easy it is to cover your tracks.
Getting a tiger or ghost invisible deck will definitely arouse suspicion and prompts the audience to request an inspection. But I feel that the ghost or tiger will add visual effect to your performance, and as a note, you can also tell them that its a special deck that can read people's minds. It adds to the sense of mystery, i personally feel. Using bikes might not be that impactful, visually.
Oh well, I'll see how things goes. There are alot of other things I'm interested in, and thinking of getting too. Very typical of a newcomer to a hobby. haha. :P
Anyway, thanks for the replies and input. Appreciate them.

I think the more common the cards look, the better.
In fact, when you finally know and want to do a D**k S****h , you'll know that using common decks save you money.

After some thought about it. I think i figured out what a D**K S****H is already, and it really makes sense in this context. I fully understand why you say using common decks saves money already. Thanks alot. ;)

maybe you can try getting Kolossal killer by kenton kepper. It work as well as a invisible deck. the best part you show your wallet clearly empty and produce a card they are thinking about. And it light !

I've took the liberty to made a mini ID for myself. Nothing fancy, the mechanics are still the same. But it looks really cute.  :off:
