Title: My Linking Ring Act, Half Way Done
Description: just a short segment of it.
Lefty - August 2, 2006 08:34 PM (GMT)
Hi everyone, i got a show yesterday, did my linking rings, but due to the low memory of the camera, it is only half way recorded. sad sad.... I also did snow storm and vanishing bottle, but the memory is full.
After what is shown in the video, it will follow by a globe display and blossom, hour glass, step ladder, the four ring link pattern display thingy, and finally the 6 link ring.
By the way i have problem with my second appearing cane, sorry for that. hahaha
And also silk too small, not in time to ship in a bigger red diamond silk. :g:
Like shufi said, please give your honest comment and hope you guys will enjoy this short clip. :g:

Nicee!!! Ahla...
Next time check your camera first...
Was enjoying the clip then it ended. :(
I liked your half of the linking rings that was shown. Cool.
You looked really confident! ^_^
Just a few comments from a noob here :
Was it because of the problem with your second cane that's why you didn't pose at the end of that? If it was then ok. It would have been better if you could like pause though, just for the effect to sink in. For me, the effect hasn't sink in and you are already moving on so i got no time to go: whoa.
I was wondering if you could have thrown the cane to your 'helper' at the side of the stage instead?? And also maybe the side table could be brought nearer to you instead of so far to the side? Then you could have saved the walking over and keep the focus in the middle of the stage.. I dunno but the walking to and fro on the stage sorts of distracts me.
On the whole, NICE! Smooth. And i can hear from the screams you seem to be a hit with the girls in the audience crowd.

haha, thanks alot, i try try to improve on it. Should do a little slower :g:
Any other feedbacks? :)

Good job :) It's obviously well practised.
I actually like the faster pace you put into it as opposed to the usual handling.
The walking to pass the cane off-stage and walking back and forth to get the rings is a little dead time. But overall still good job.

Enjoyed it Benny :) Is this your first gig, like Incarneto? Good job anyways!

Sleek, well done!
Try to spend more time to build on the impact. As it is now, the emphasis seems to be on the choreography of the entire routine, and as I watch, I tend to watch the flow of the routine instead of catching what magic has occured. This detracts from magic and makes the routine more of a dance/juggling act. People will want to give you credit for the magic (through their applause), so give them the opportunity to by building in applause points into your routine. Try to cut down on walking to the end of the stage to retrieve/deposit items by placing the table nearer the centre, or at the centre but behind you.

Daaaaamn that was nice. I can only imagine the amount of time you spent rehearsing everything.
One comment, the walking back and forth from the table to get your stuff is just unnecessary. It breaks the rhythm and the flow, and thus the audience's attention. The props can easily be placed somewhere else that's more convienent. The canes can be thrown to someone else, the rings can be hung from a small coat-hanger like stand, which being small won't take up much space and can be placed closer to your "performing area" without being a big visual distraction.
So yea, as the background soundtrack went, "Table... Table... Table... Table..."

hahha, thanks for your advice, i agree that after reviewing my linking act, walking back and forth is a little dead, hmm... let me see if i can improve it...

I have to say, a really very very nice performace put up over there by you and Incarneto. I'm sure many girls wanted yor number after that right? =p
I have no advice since i'm new but i like the part whereby you produced the cane out from the silk, 'unexpected' was the reaction i had.

Mmm hi, remember me? Anyway i feel that the act was very smooth and sleek, and i loved the appearing canes. Nice surprise for the starting. :D The linking rings was nice. If you were nervous, it didnt show at all. Hard to believe it was your first gig. Haha
yong_tianadeline - August 4, 2006 01:28 PM (GMT)
My!! It was your first gig??!!!
I can't believe it! Definitely didn't look that way.
By the way, when i said 'pause' in my 1st post, I mean after the appearing cane, before the linking rings. The linking ring pace was quite ok actually. I thought it was more refreshing this way.
Great job.

M.A.D. - August 8, 2006 02:22 AM (GMT)
well done , i watch it number of time but still can not steal your move, sad... but i had a question for you, why you must move so fast and walking in and out of the vision. B)
Lefty - August 12, 2006 06:57 PM (GMT)
I guess the Table is just too far away. haha, i couldnt place it any where near, its gonna block the audience view, maybe next time i will place behind so its easier for me to grab anything. :)
I really wish to teach you the moves but unfortunately, this routine of mine is modify from Mr Jeremy Pei linking ring routine, and i recently attended his secret session to aqquire the moves, but if you have any problems feel free to post it here or even bring along your linknig rings during the next SMC meeting, will be glad to help. :D

I Don't know much about linking rings, but I certainly enjoyed watching that. Love the fast pace of the routine and your movement/dance.
