Title: Bee Cards
Description: any difference?

<Aaron> - August 5, 2006 08:08 AM (GMT)
So i went to a place to get some cards. Yep, and i asked the aunty for bees. She showed me 2. 1 was $4.50 and the other $5.50. Is there any difference? i bought the $4.50 one. Was i cheated?

So i checked it out. I went home, opened it up and yeah, the cards were smooth and nice. UNTIL i saw the back and the front. The front of the card case read :" No.92 Club special" and on the back "No. 67" So shouldn't the numbers match? i thought they represented the back design. And the front of the $5.5 says ,"Casino Quality" and this one said "Club special".

Does anybody know the difference between this 2 decks of cards? Both are supposedly BEES but why different prices? :ph43r: unless, i got a very rare misprinted card case?

I've bought a few packs of Bee cards before for $1.00. They were not the same quality as the normal ones I own. The ones I bought for a dollar were of very low quality; I don't remember what numbers they were though. Oh, and they have a weird finish on the cards that make them stick together (i.e. impossible to fan or spread properly). I've since given the decks away to my cousins to use as playing cards.

So yeah, there is a weird type of Bee cards out there. Has anyone else experience something similar?

hmm, i also have seen BWPK and BINWANG cards that are very much alike to Bees. The whole case design is very much the same. Even the advertisement card in the Binwang deck is same as BEE! :o

LOL totally agree. I used to own one BINWANG deck when i just started magic. The feel is different though i must say, and yes, the advertisements are almost in conjunction with BEE. Haa, same comapany?

Gosh, they're even pirating playing cards now?!

As far as I know, those 'pirated Bees' are products from China, they have a weird smell right? Yeah, that's the finish they use. Shuffle it long enough and the cards start to chip away and disintegrate.

Aaron,

There is nothing wrong with your Bee deck, it's fine.

If you're wondering about the numbers, check out the Ace of Spades, it says 92, right at the bottom, above the 'Made In U.S.A.'.

The 'Back No 67' represents the type of card back, if I'm not wrong, as there are other types of card backs for Bees. Most brands of cards have different card backs so they either number them or name them. Bicycle and Tally Ho name their different card backs, I'm assuming Bees number them. You can go back to the shop, or do a search on the net for the different types of card backs for Bees and you should see that they have a different Back No.

As to the $5.50 one, the only thing I can think of would be that it is of higher production quality. Casino quality cards last a bit longer, but it really makes no difference. I've used my Bee deck for MONTHS and it's still ok, albiet a bit dirty, but that's unavoidable.

I have a used deck of cards from a casino in Vegas, they've clipped off the corners as that's standard procedure after a casino has finished with the cards. That deck is a Bee deck of Casino Quality and it's about the same, nothing fantastic. The casino name and logo are featured on the back of the cards, on top of the Bee back design.

One question though, to you guys, is Bicycle better or Bee? Each preference i know but which is better generally ?

One of my friend said Bee is better for casino because the fact is the card's side is thicker than Bicycle? Is this true? Just want to clarify a little.

To my knowledge, none is better, they're both pretty much the same. Bee just has a cambric finish, whilst Bicycle has an air cushion finish.

Other than that, they're pretty much similar.

I'm not sure about what your friend said, he could be right. I'm no expert on these things, but I'll spill what I know.

One thing that i do know, is that the box for tallys is thicker than the bike box. ;)

Oh well, there's only one way to know---> use a micrometer and measure the thickness of the card. They all feel the same to me. But that means i must sneak into the physics lab to do this. ^_^

But don't the finish all feel the same? There's not much of a difference, if there is one. -_- Could be a marketing ploy. haha

:off:

LOL.. micrometer, when was the last time i used that? I remember i smuggled one home before, now where did i put it? <_<

Both Finishes are good, but i still prefer bike though, no bias but i just prefer bike to bee, though for Big 2, i use Bee.. :P

I do know one thing though, when I did a DL with Bee I had a very very small room for error because it lacked the white border that other regular playing cards had.

I remembered i saw once a review on different playing cards based on how much they warp and also other things on one website over the net. That might be helpful?
