Title: Left Fan, Spoilt Right Fan
Freeze - August 6, 2006 02:28 PM (GMT)
Hi guys, as said in the topic, my fanning of cards on the left hand is average but it was disastrous on my right, i couldn't even make a shape out of it. I had been practicing for quite some time now but the same case always happen.
Am i holding it the correct way? i mean i'm holding exactly the same way as my left. Just wondering if anybody is facing the same problem as me.

hey dude, i experience the direct opposite of you. i can fan pretty well in my right hand but when it comes to left, it's very uneven. I'm like always being asked, "Why do you use your right hand to fan?"
there's supposed to be a correct way found in eXtreme Beginners. but i can't really find the correct spot in my left. Oh well :(

It would help if you told us whether you are talking about the smear fan or the twin fan. If it's the twin fan, then I can't do it for nuts (in either hand).

I think, when it comes to flourishes, it all boils down to practice. ^_^

Lol, i have the same problem here too but the opposite too. Its like no matter how hard u mimic and do it on the other hand, u dun seem to get the correct momentum which u fanned with ur original hand. But, ya, practice makes perfect :)

hmm, i think it's the smear fan if i'm not wrong. It's like what ling in the pic is doing... I can't do it on the right hand. Haha. And The S fan.. Wow, looks really cool.

MORE PRACTICE. I guess.
Like when you just started with your fans you get a funny spread. With more practice, your fans start to get into decent "shape".
Same goes with the other hand.

Meow.
Try to use you right hand's motions to mimic your left hand or vice versa. Just make sure you're learning from the better hand. Don't wanna end up unable to fan in both hands do you?

Oh yea, speaking of it. My left hand's getting better from all the right hand training. Lol, but must your hands be smooth to fan better? I was thinking of powder. But would it be wierd? :X
Itachi - August 8, 2006 09:28 AM (GMT)
Well powder does help... the right application of the powder is vital too. But note that it does in some cases create a dependence on powder later on. That is u cannot fan as well without powder.

For flourishes generally, there is a set of guidelines to follow to. If you face any trouble, you can:
1) get a new hand
2) replace right hand with left hand by surgery
3) keep practising till you get it. trust me you eventually will!
Hope it helps. (though it sounds cliche <_< )

Girl, that similarity you 'sense' is called humor and sarcasm. I don't think Kevin has patented it yet.

how do u all do the smear fan??? when i try 2 do it it ends halfway it would nt cover my whole palm
zomaziz - November 16, 2006 10:46 PM (GMT)
If you can fan it halfway, then just try fanning it all the way by shifting the position of the cards.
And... isn't your question already answered by the other half a dozen other people who posted before you? Just practise.
