Nervous Breakdown by Dominique Duvivier

The magician shows a small plastic wallet. He explains that one side of the wallet are four kings, the other side is a prediction card. The spectator is asked to choose any king. The kings and prediction card are removed and placed on the table.

With absolutely no sleight of hand, the kings are spread to show the reversed king is the one chosen. Not only was it reversed, it was the only one with a red back! The prediction card is turned over to reveal an ace of the same suit and color.

Furthermore, the other cards weren't kings at all, but aces! That's how sure the magician was to guess the prediction!

THE REVIEW

What you get:
This packet trick contains an ingenious card holder that comes with a set of cards (Bicycle, air-cushioned)

What do you need:
Good patter, decent presentation skills and quick wit to slay your audience with this effect!

What happens:
This is a creative improvement from the classic Bwave effect with good quality gimmicks that were made specially for this effect. This magician fooler is easy to do, the sleights are easy (almost negligent really) and it has multiple climaxes cleverly built into its workings. There’s a very nice kicker ending with the final card too.

This is pretty much idiot-proof as well, but this doesn’t mean you can get away without practicing! ;) Nervous Breakdown is good walkaround material (resets in seconds!). I did this to a few groups of lay audiences and they all loved it… No one figured out how the gimmick worked! It fits in your wallet anyway, so you can take it wherever you go… there’s no need to bring your brainwave or invisible decks along anymore! Highly recommended for the magician who wants some easy pocket mentalism, as this would be a good investment.
