I'm sorry, I'm going to be brutally honest with you.

If you don't want to practice your tricks, please don't perform.
Perform for yourself. Or perform (read: practice) for other magicians. But please don't take it out there for layman till you have taken the effort to practice it to do the magic some justice. This is true even for supposed "self working" tricks.
You might expose the method due to your lack of practise and ruin it for other magicians, or worse....

As you no doubt have realised, the people here care a lot about quality magic. So if you're intending to, or already are performing for strangers and people outside of your personal familial and social circles, then for the love of God, practice!

People will start enjoying your tricks more, you will screw up less, and you will seem much more magical.

As your own signature ironically says, illusion is only a step to magic. And if you're performing things without good, hard practice, and people aren't convinced, then you're not even performing illusions, much less magic.

Think about that.


Nevertheless, if you want to improve your magic, there's no better place to be than SMC. Welcome. ^_^

Wow, you really got a bit of flak on your practising part.

Anyway, if you are 8 years into magic, I don't see how you have no time to practice? I am very sure at least out of the 8 years, there would be 2 years worth of practising time. So much longer than many of us. Unless you had too many tricks on hand that you didn't have time to master all of them. Then maybe you should review your buying habits.

I can't help but notice that you created quite a lot of buzz on the forum lately with your video clips and your comments on the thread in Card Magic posted by Freeze so I decided to drop you a little message in your intro.

Everyone in SMC cares a lot about the art of magic and like what Maddened said, we care a lot about quality magic. I'm surprised to read that you specialize in all around close up illusions but you do not really practice on your effects and once you've learned it you only practice it once. Unless you're telling me you're a gifted magician genuis, I have say that for the love and respect of this art PLEASE put the time and practice into what you want to perform. No one likes to watch an off-key concert or unfinished movie. So the same goes for magic. No one would like to watch a half-effort effect. By doing your best and garnering the reactions, you'll feel the efforts were well worth it.

You've studied magic for a long time, I'm not going to doubt that so you should know that the magician's code very well. Hence, by all means uphold these ethics. We apprecaite your contribution and views in this forum but please do so tactfully and with respect for one another. We were all brought here together by magic and its this magic that sparks new friendships. All in all, welcome to SMC, hope you'll have a magical time here. :)

2nd, I have alrdy pointed out, what I'm trying to show at that point of time in my video thread, and I explained things that are quite beyond issues concering about those videos, trust me, take a look there..

3rd, Freeze deserved no respect at all, and need not to be protected, or side against *From what I can see most stood by him*.
Because, I was merely pointing out what someone IMO which was me, that can seen as a FAULT or, a rather funny thread to be discuss on when it can barely, or even be done..
I did not even bother to reply him at all, but he spam his replied in a way, or a meaning like "Oh I'm not lying ppl, just I'm cool I saw that, it was real, trust me. This lostlove doesn't even know how to read my post".
It's only until the next replied I've posted, I tried to explained how many methods, or even anyway possible to did what he described, but I realized, I can't reveal anything to at least, share my knowledge on that thread.
Then, Mod edited my post. I was then at that point of time, having simple singlish, as really, that as much as I typed, people still dont get what I'm trying to say. So I think, I would rather type it short and simple, get it or get fooled.

5th, once I know how things is done, I will try it once or twice, myself, alone, of cause, to see if it's the right way(s) I have figured..
And deeply sorry, it's my misleading that I said actually "perform most tham without training"..
But what I'm trying to say, is that MOST of it, I did not have a proper training/performance, and I did not actually performed it to peoples. It's only if I have to show a routine or ideas, I cannot do it professionally whether both on videos or meetup/gathering with SMC's talents.
And yes I have been performing to my frens, relatives, and my beloved ex gf endlessly, it all went well because there are sure a few I keep up my sleeve with many hours of practicing isn't it?

While I may only be a nobody to all of you, I'm still part and alive somewhere in this area.. And as that, I still think that Mods/Admins in SMC can have a better understanding/thread discipline in this community, while it is true that both are hard to come by, for such events to come up with these "unless", "pointless", "another OUT OF TOPIC issue" replies is to say the very least, unacceptable and disappointing.

And since things I learn in life is free, I will take it, it's free to learn, why not? Infact you could actually say that to a teacher *YES WHY NOT?*
Because, what they are teaching these days youth, are not in much details on how they explain everything, people are just too young to know more.. Primary sch, secondary etc.. They would not understand a single dust on whats even going on, or how they trying to negotiate commercial treaties way before Singapore was founded etc. There are lots more than this, I don't study history, I can't give u any much more details..
So anyway, people like you, would normally reply "Those are MOE and talents, they have their ways, if you're so great, why are you even here, or where in life do you stand? I don't see u at MOE? blah blah blah and bulls and dogs"
So still why they even bother telling a kids? They are just giving ideas, understanding, and sort of a pathway for their furture.
IF they did not do this, once they reach Poly or Uni then start learning.. Wouldn't it be funny how a teens be told who is Raffles?
But, if at young, they already know, they will have a understanding, when everything on how our great ancestor did and such and such is being taught to them, it's simply alot easier.. Based on other factor they learn, IF NOT, there will not be a k1, k2, primary sch etc etc. If LKY have mindset like u, I bet he prolly start a UNI only.. That's totally IMO..

Even in SAF, General take ideas from subordinate, a Private *At least* can approach his OC in a proper channel, and have reason out in everything, and that OC can't do whatever he like. Just because of his rank/position is OC? He can't just ask them to get lost or charged them about Chain of command etc. Unless we are talking in a bad discipline enviroment because people behave like you, they exist..
If that's a bad OC or boss or rather anyone higher than u in work, life or camp, I bet u will be their best friend, no doubt..
And people who understand better, will always be higher than both, of 2..

Seriously, if u have so much time to write out all these stuff which the people over here do not even bother or want to bother, why not spend the time doing something more worthy? Eg: If you like to write an essay, why not write an article and send it to the paper forum whereby more people over there will be interested in discussing or debating with you?

Right now, no matter what others say, you only will want to rebutt it and proving you are correct. What do you gain in doing all these stuff? I have really no idea however i can assure you that you have wasted your time writing all those stuff because people here are peace loving and have no wish to start a never-ending discussion or even a debate.

Erm, firstly I'm on vacation and I don't spend much time replying here.. Except times where I did hit a wrong button and everything was gone.

Secondly, like what I replied to e other thread on Magic Clips, u are just making biased assumption, fact is I'm stating e facts.. And erm, I don't see anything logical with that "write an article and send it to the paper forum" sentence.. That exist, but I dont see anything that linked here to there.

3rd I still think u share e same problem with muscleaxl in almost every aspect, especially that part which says "U guys flanked English with F9" . I will like to say again to you, unless u know my main point, this is NOTHING about winning or losing, defending or offensive.. And following is what I sincerely asked from muscleaxe, if you would like, share it with us too?
Then really we can understand wat kind of life are u guys life like and at least if not a better understanding, why these stuff could ever came across u guy's mind? "Winning/losing etc blah blah"

That is why you should not write a long post. People don't bother to read and try to understand you.

I am coming from a very neutral point of view.

From where you are coming from, it seems as though you are regarding yourself as the more understanding, knowledgeable and wise one asking and commenting about other people's lives while putting them in your 'low grade' category.

I believe everyone then who had the conflict or misunderstanding with you had already forgotten about it or let go. Axl has already made that point.

The FACT is that you are the one still holding on to it. Whether or not you have to make things clear or apologize it did not matter to any of them anymore or I believe it did not matter to you too.

None of them are your close friends or family members that you will be living with so just let go of it instead of getting worked up or trying to provoke Axl.

If it is about Winning or Losing, I see they have let you win.
If it is not about Winning or Losing, they actually declared peace.
And if it is about facts, you are the one choosing not to accept the fact that was over and nothing matter now except that everything can start anew in the forum.

There are some elderly here in SMC who frequent the forums.

And YES, some might not understand those short words, text-msg, chat type words.

So, it's not just to make it beautiful or anything.

It's to make it clear.

Is it hard for you ? Or you can only just type a simple words ?

Not to mention that there are some members that don't have English as their first/second language.

So it's already hard enough to understand a good proper English, and impossible enough to understand more simple words.
