I will be going for an audition at National Arts Council. I hope to be a busker. i was wondering if anyone has any good effect for me to perform. i mainly do close up. Thanks in advance.

Cups and balls.

I am not confidence in cups and ball but i just purchase gazzo's street cup and balls. I just cannot wait for the dvd to arrive. Any cup to recommand buying?

Depends on your budget. Street cups such as the Cellini cups or the Gary Animal cups are hard to come by and fairly expensive. RNTII has some jumbo street cups that look very nice. You can't go wrong with them but they don't come cheap either.

The Bazar De Magia cups are good for beginners and are of pretty good quality for the mass produced series. The prices of the Bazar cups have gone up recently due to the crazy inflation of copper prices but they are still considered inexpensive when compared to custom work.

Uday cups are of rather poor quality. They are very light and sometimes if you're unlucky, you might get a set that doesn't stack properly. They are cheap though but I would not recommend them if you're going to invest into cups and balls.

What's your close-up style? Any close-up magic tricks? Appearing sponges, balls, bills? Comedy? Bizzare? Are your proficient with cards? Or are you more into close up mentalism type?

When is your audition? If it is soon, you'll have to look at easy to do tricks.

For close-ups, I would recommend getting Electric Touch, UltraSmoke 2000, and rainmaker. These effects will bring your performances a step higher and they are easy to do after initial set-up. they are versatile and can be used to enhance almost close-up trick. With E.T., you can go sleeveless. With UltraSmoke2000, you have to wear long sleeves, but you can fold them up to show there is nothing on your arm.
