I happen to stumble upon this website and found this interesting effect call Bruised. Yes you did not read wrongly. Its the regular blue-black mark when you're hit by somethig :P

It does look like a real bruise. Interesting I have to say but I don't think its very practical. Read what is used to make the Bruise and you'll know why. I mean I would'nt want to be walking around spotted with Bruises that lasts for days. Haha.. Well, I guess some people might be interested by it. If presented well, it can be quite a nice effect.
