Description: Daniel Garcia
binaryzero_1 - September 2, 2006 05:00 AM (GMT)
This is Fraud by Daniel Garcia trailer,
http://www.ellusionist.com/order/Fraud-Trailer-Video.phpi dont really understand what the effect really is.
jeromefang - September 2, 2006 08:13 AM (GMT)
This is an effect whereby the performer borrows a bill from the spectator, ask him/her to sign it. The performer then takes the bill and under the watchful eyes of the spectator, slowly moves the seal thats printed on the bill. Visibly from one end of the bill to the other.
At first I was wondering what seal were they talking about then I realised it was the letter "B" on the left side of US note. I got this from E Forum. Check it out:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v638/Mer...2/FraudBuck.jpgIf this effect works on Singapore notes, its going to twist the minds of the specs like crazy. Let keep our fingers cross that it can work on our local notes ^_^
binaryzero_1 - September 2, 2006 11:41 AM (GMT)
Woah!! if this gonna work on SG dollars, im gonna get it. :!!:
bigbadwolf - September 2, 2006 01:27 PM (GMT)
i got a bad feeling its only work on US currency.
I think this is an effect similar to Improv Nightshades, hopefully it can works on ANY currencies :ph43r:
zomaziz - September 3, 2006 02:14 AM (GMT)
The teaser video is really...
A teaser. <_<
I hardly got what the effect was until I saw this thread. Phew.
If the note can be signed, I'm pretty convinced that it'll work on currencies here.
... by the way, no gimmicks right? Garcia doesn't really sell gimmick stuff, asides from the Tricycle card box...
muscleaxl - September 4, 2006 05:49 AM (GMT)
Eh.. Garcia does sell gimmicked stuff..
Magicdow - September 4, 2006 05:59 AM (GMT)
I wonder why people bother to make that kind of trailer.
bigbadwolf - September 4, 2006 09:02 AM (GMT)
Because its from Ellusionist.......
Freeze - September 4, 2006 06:50 PM (GMT)
Lol.. What do we want to move on our currencies? Move our president's face?

I wouldn't mind
cioxxx - September 5, 2006 01:18 PM (GMT)
I also have got a sinking feeling that it can only be done on the greens of America. But oh well, here's hoping!
zomaziz - September 5, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
muscleaxl... (I still have trouble doing "quotes") :P
My bad. Not very familiar with Garcia products.
Heh, if we can move the president's face... Woah, now that's a good effect. :g:
Bet those magicians in America are now hopping about in joy.. with no worries whether it can be used on their notes. <_<

Well, its the usual marketing strategy whereby they keep you in suspense but yet don't want to show you too much plus give magicians like us all the hype so that we can discuss about it and spread the effect around. Its just like movie traliers. Entice you a bit so that it keeps you in suspense

Moving our president's face is a tad too much. I mean our president's face already cover half the bill plus whos thumb is so big enough to cover the face haha.. I was looking at our bill and if it can work, we can move our Singapura Seal that is on the top left hand corner. Commonly known as the Crab insigna in Army  Its not too big, just nice for our thumbs ^_^
Magicdow - September 6, 2006 01:20 AM (GMT)
Actually the trailer didn't entice me, it actually puts me off. :(
ming - September 6, 2006 02:36 AM (GMT)
Well, it got you talking about the DVD, so it kinda worked didn't it?
Magicdow - September 6, 2006 04:00 AM (GMT)
Nah, it actually made me not to buy it.
bigbadwolf - September 19, 2006 11:18 PM (GMT)
It seems Fraud is coming out in DVD only and one of the staffs (j.bayme), mentioned it was shot in Sony High Definition
So are future E's videos going to be more expensive? <_< <_<
LarryDK - September 20, 2006 08:55 AM (GMT)
I read an entry from Daniel Garcia in the Ellusionist Forum. Hopefully that is him.
He says that, he don't know whether other currencies from other countries are able to do it anot.
Secondly, the note can be signed at both sides, the seal is shown before the move and then shown again after the move
Thirdly, no money lost, (To me, its a loophole) He says that 1 bill is used, 1 bill is returned.
Fourth, hand is clean before and after the effect.
These are the key parts. I like the idea that both side can be signed, secondly, its clean before and after.
:)
Lamadude - September 21, 2006 01:27 AM (GMT)
I was looking at the trailer, the second time they showed hm doing the trick kinda showed what happened, if you look carefully. i am wondering if he is selling the gimmick and the handling or just the handling?

bigbadwolf - September 21, 2006 02:49 AM (GMT)
I want to know too..
Its released...anybody getting it?
LarryDK - September 21, 2006 03:47 AM (GMT)
I also curious of anyone getting it, secondly, they never test it on any other currencies, and beware that Singapore bills are in plastic. So well it might not work on singapore bills.
But i will think that a presentation can be applied to run around this problem and eventually still use the american bill. Take note of what they mentioned about the american bill.
"take it out of your wallet, and do the magic"
It seems so impromtu. This is killing me. Anyone getting?
zomaziz - September 21, 2006 12:50 PM (GMT)
Sorry if this question comes off as "duh". It's just that nobody's mentioned it! So... just in case, what I'm wondering is if it's reversible.
Can the seal be moved back? If it can't, Singaporean magicians are gonna have a hard time constantly converting cash to perform this...
bigbadwolf - September 21, 2006 02:10 PM (GMT)
No...you can't move the seal back.
This question was clarified in the E's forums. Reset takes 30 seconds.
I'm just quoting what I read from their forums. Don't ask me for further questions
LarryDK - September 21, 2006 04:51 PM (GMT)
Ya, I have to agree that the changing of notes is hassle, but if you change one lump sum, it will be good enough, but the thing is, if you have the audience to sign the note, you want to keep the note or you want him to keep the note?
bigbadwolf - September 22, 2006 01:28 AM (GMT)

As stated, the DVD shows you exactly how to perform it so that neither YOU nor the spectator loses a single dollar when performing it. No, it does not cost you a dollar every time you perform it. The DVD addresses this concern fully-- don't worry. __________________

Dude,
Thats only apply if its a borrowed amercian dollar. If you use your own bill and give it to the audience, you still will lose the dollar. :)
DkGamer - September 22, 2006 07:56 AM (GMT)
This won't work with the singaporean dollar. Mainly because our new notes are made of plastic. Don't get it unless you want to carry around the US bill to wherever you go. However, what they claim that the bill can be signed is true. Those of you who owns the art of astonishment will find fraud a little similiar to "counterfeit spectator" described in Paul Harris's book.
Although it looks good, but I don't really like using foreign curencies to do my tricks mainly because people will obviously think something is up. Get it if you want to know the secret. But as far as performing goes, I don't think it's good if you don't like using foreign currencies.
bigbadwolf - September 22, 2006 12:56 PM (GMT)
DkGamer & LarryDK brothers?
similar nick :off: :P
zomaziz - September 23, 2006 12:40 AM (GMT)
Wait, say if...
You moved the seal. It can't be moved back. So you can't use the dollar. If you gave the spectator the dollar, you literally lose the dollar. But the thing is, nobody can use that dollar, so...
It makes no diff whether you decide to give the spectator the dollar! Because it's already a "used dollar".
(and yeah, LarryDK and Dkgamer have similiar nicks! haha)
bigbadwolf - September 23, 2006 01:19 AM (GMT)
Someone posted a review on Fraud at the E's forums and he mention that it comes with something "extra" other then the dvd.
MAybe its the "seals"?
Feel like getting this just for the secret
DkGamer - September 23, 2006 07:21 AM (GMT)
hmmm yes it does come with something else besides the dvd.
But as always, I find that ellusionist has misleading points in some tricks. Fraud is probably one of them.
P.S and no we ar'nt bros -.- I don't look a single thing like him :D
LarryDK - September 23, 2006 11:13 AM (GMT)
Ya, read from the forums and you will know that it require you to produce the "thing" yourself, though i think it will not be hard work. But some of you will think that it will be hassle to do it. Hmm, I personally think that its still a very outstanding effect, but it cannot be done on singapore bills, unless you say old singapore bills.
Me have no link with DKGamer, But glad to know someone also a DK dude. :)
binaryzero_1 - September 23, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
I keep thinking that this effect is similar to nightshade from Paul Harris.
but i tink its not. but it say this effect start clean and ends clean too..nice!

LarryDK - September 23, 2006 06:02 PM (GMT)
Very hard to answer that.
But from ellusionist forum, one of the reviewer mention that you don't need to carry a gimmick when you perform.
phsycofreak - September 24, 2006 01:05 PM (GMT)
Mod's note: Post deleted. You have been warned many times and you refuse to heed. 10 days suspension.
phsycofreak - October 20, 2006 04:39 AM (GMT)
Ok this is my second post after that happened.Fraud can be done on s'pore notes, you can't move the coat of arms but u can move the digit 5. thats what someone called jeffrey did, i wonder he is in the forum
bigbadwolf - October 20, 2006 06:35 AM (GMT)
oh..yeah jeffery. He did mentioned it was possible but didn't see his version before.
LarryDK - October 21, 2006 07:54 AM (GMT)
Once again, I will say its possible to be done with Singapore OLD notes.
The new plastic notes are impossible to be done. Anyone can do it with plastic notes, I salute him. :)
Doublelifter - October 29, 2006 04:16 PM (GMT)
It can be done with a Singapore note but only the
paper ones. But will be easier to do with a US
note with the help of something "extra" that comes
with the DVD. Something in the same vein as Paul
Harris's "nightshades".
