Title: Smc Cannot Be Found
Description: My problem

HarapanOng - September 8, 2006 06:57 AM (GMT)
This would be directed to the admin or computer experts.

What my problem is sometimes, for NO REASON at all, my computer would not be able to go into SMC forums. One day can, suddenly next day, boom, it wouldn't go in. Just "page cannot be found" and stuff. And it would continue for a very long time.

I can go into SMC from school, from other places - but NOT from my home.

It's getting very irritating. This has happened to me about 2 times so far, and the websites i would not be able to visit are:

1. Singapore Magic Circle Forums
2. LeeAsher.com

These 2 websites have no link between them, but these are the only 2 I know that I can't go to.

For some reason.

Anyone help me prevent a third time?

say dude, i have this problem too. It's a on and off scenario for me though. I would go straight to the forums only to find that the page can't be found. Then i would have to restart my internet connection before it can work. so weird.

Actually I found this problem sometime back. It was because certain range of Singnet IP is not able to reach the forum. Not only this forum, but other forums hosted on the same provider. I've contacted Singnet helpdesk, but they were not very helpful on this.

Just a tip: if you are having issues accessing the forum when you are connected, just go to http://www.whatismyip.com. If you IP is of the form 121.x.x.x, you will have problem logging in. To solve the problem, either restart your connection a few times, till you got a 219.x.x.x or 220.x.x.x IP, or you can go to Tools --> Internet Options --> Connections --> LAN Settings, and configure proxy at proxy.singnet.com.sg, at port 8080. That solves my problem when my IP is not right. :)

It is not a browser issue, but a network related issue. :)

Seems like a transparent proxy issue.
