Title: Need Help On Coins
Description: Singapore Coin for Sleights?

Levikidz - September 12, 2006 10:33 AM (GMT)
HI friends,

I'd recently bought coin magic and sleights book. I'm currently practising the sleights but i find that its rather difficult using Singapore coins. Is it too small for practise?

I'm totally new to this and i'm not sure if i should try with bigger coins. But so far, the biggest coin that is available is the 50 cents coin.

Need your advises. Thanks!!!!

If you have big hands, you can try the old 50 cents coin or even the old $1 coin.

Other than that, most of us will use American half-dollars. These are quite standard in coin magic. A similar size coin are the coins used in game arcades. But these coins have smooth edges, making it difficult to p***.

Once you are familiar with the sleights, you'll find that size will not be an issue. You can even classic p*** a 5 cents coin.

BTW, which book did you buy?

Hi Magicdow,

I'm actually practising on BoBo collection in CD rom format (which also includes Royal Road To Card Magic AND Annemann's Practical Mental Effects. These are all in the CD titled: CD Triple Classic Lybrary.com

On the coin sleights, i'm not sure if i have big hands, but i'm sure having difficulties with the sleights. Where can i get the American half-dollar? Or is it ok to practise with the arcades token?

It's difficult now, but i will want to overcome it, because the reaction that i'm going to get from my audience will be PRICELESS! I'm sure! =)

Also, any other advise to improve my learning?

Thanks!!

You can get half dollars from the dealers here, try Ning. You can try coin shops but it'll be expensive (about $6).

You may want to try the arcade tokens first before you get your hands on the half-dollars.

To maximise your learning on coin sleights, always practice when you have the chance, i.e., when you get your change after you purchase something, p*** it before keeping it. You can also pratice when you are walking or watching tv.

Don't worry about being slow. A good classic p*** will take about 3 months. The most basic p*** you need to be good at will be the finger and classic p***.

Thanks Magicdow,

Just gotten myself a suitable coin from the money changer shop. Slightly bigger than our 50 cent coins =)

Had tried it and i seem to be able to hold it much better.

Appreciate all your advises!

Thanks very much!
Cheers!

Hi. Ya im only 15 , my hands arent big but i also find 50c coints small.

Its alright for many routines but if its better if its bigger. But it's still good for coins across and that kinda stuff.

Ok, it is never easy to master something really new to you right? At first when i was practicing the sleight, it was difficult for me as well. I used a 50 cent coin as it was the biggest you could find in Singapore. I practiced it long enough and now i could even use a 5cent coin. Some tips I can give you is just try to practice that sleight in your everyday life. Example when writing, you can practice it right? Can't tell you any further to prevent exposure. Good luck!
