Description: Dangerous?

Yea, happened to come across this dvd at some web, just wanna get a review on this product, whether its easy to perform and whether is it dangerous. Thanks

Eh.. Issit legal to perform that here? I heard Derren Brown had to fly to a secret location to film his Russian Roulette special as it's against British law to shoot a "sucidal" theme thingy on it's land..

It's not the REAL Russian Roulette. I think the threadstarter was mentioning another effect. Paper cups and knives? I don't really remember.

Do the one on Expert Magic. I never failed. What looks dangerous doesn't mean it's dangerous =)

Yep yep, its the one with 3 cups and a long sharp nail. Looks kinda dangerous though... Once fail, the nail is thru ur hand? Lol.

Chris Korn, from Mondo Magic. He did this effect on one of his episode. He failed while rehearsing. They brough him to the Emergency Room or something.

Great publicity stunt ;) Always good to showcase some real element of danger. It's just like razor blade eating. Is it dangerous? Yes, there is a REAL element of danger. But you do realise, it has to look very believeable to get the WOW factor from your audience right? ;)

*yuck! Gross!

The only reason why I never got down to performing this trick in front of my friends is that I always have this scary thought at the back of my mind which says that if something goes wrong, a nail will end up through my hand. The effect isn't foolproof you know, a heckler might mess it up.

And now you got to mention this. I'm staying away from this trick for ever now.

zomaziz - September 20, 2006 11:24 PM (GMT)
Well, the risk is there. But aren't such tricks (where the cups can be moved around and switched, etc...) supposed to be heckler-proof or something? heh heh. Gonna stay out of this 1, too.

Our hands are pretty much everything. :ph43r:

Trick that went wrong 1

That was probably the worst videos I've seen.. Unbelievable, expecially the last one where the stupid Magician actually used the audience's hand. (and YES, he failed and spiked the lady's hand! OMG..)

theWeaver - September 23, 2006 03:28 AM (GMT)
Omg.. LOL..

zomaziz - September 23, 2006 12:32 PM (GMT)
Well, to look on the bright side, at least the magician still gets to work! :P

Now I'm more certain than ever to stay far away from this. Gruesome fates await! Haha...

i think Russian Roulette resembles more of a David Blaine' dead or alive stunt which is not really very magicial, apart from the danger element. I don't think i would see myself doing this.

joeltay81 - September 23, 2006 03:33 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the idea. I'll do this trick using the spectator's hand instead. haha.

I watched the video again, cos I was kinda bored, and the video was nice in a way..

Damn, I still cannot believe it man. Damn hell jialat sia.. I can imagine if someone like just openly whack straight down onto a knife/nail.. :S

Scott Alexander has a really great routine for this though. He uses glass bottles. It is one of the best "Russian Roulette" I've seen due to its fairness. Lastly.. Its 100% safe, its impossible to fail this trick. (But its expensive) :(
