Just bought this today and decided to post a review about it. ( my first review :) )
Product: Animated Shoelaces
Effect: Shoelaces tie themselves without anyone touching them
Pros
Can be done in shorts, an improvement from STS!
The supplies for the trick can be found around the house, and one of them can be bought in any magic shop
No "switch" involved (those who own STS will know what this means)
Almost instant reset
Cons
I feel that the instruction manual gives really vague instructions :ph43r:
Ends dirty, Shoelaces cannot be inspected after trick unlike STS
Cannot be done surrounded, but who would wanna see close up magic from the back?
All in all, Animated Shoelaces has a really clever method and it is really a bargain at such a cheap price. ^_^
I think I'll add a few things.
The instructions for ASL is indeed messy. Very, to be exact.. However, due to too many complaints, Precision Magic has wrote and reproduced another set of improved instructions. All you have to do is to email the creator and prove that you have the effect, and he'll send you the new set of instructions. Definitely much easier to understand. You should be able to find ways to contact the creator from the instructional sheet. (New or old)
Yes, it can be done in shorts, but is it really an improvement of STS? No it is not. Its is simply a different method, but a similiar effect to the STS. It takes like half an hour to setup, and you're all set to rock and roll.
However, the laces cannot be inspected, it is just a illusion that it is "tied" together, unlike STS. However (again), it is the instant reset that made it catch up with STS.
Lastly, I have to say this man.. ASL is designed for shorts, but it is said that it can be done with long pants, which I can agree to a certain extend only. Its clear enough, but I shall make it clearer, ASL is for shorts, STS is for long pants. And super super lastly, I prefer STS, via method wise. Great effect, but STS is still in the lead whenever my shoelaces gets untied.
P.S I think you can even do ASL in your swimming trunks.
Yeap thanks. Personally I feel ASL is better. Well to each its own.. :ph43r:
and the instructions don't say how to contact him via email..only has his phone number in the US
