DMSB review

Here's what you get in the Italian-made package:

1 x instructional DVD featuring diego finotti
4 x white silicon balls
2 x white shells

Now this is what's great about it:

The instructional DVD teaches basic shell techniques, covering the basic multiplying ball routine, and an advance one, with a two shell routine also. Skilled veteran street performer, Diego Finotti of Italy (who at some points remind me of Colin Ferrel), goes through the various manipulation, palming, vanishing and productions (there's a continued production effect that looks very visual... who needs spongeballs when you can use this? Ha!) and also the classic Cardini's ball roll and Ed Vorhees vanish besides useful shell subtleties.

The video runs for slightly more than 16 mins and utilises the 'show not tell' method, meaning there are no words spoken. I suppose it's because this is made in Italy (the balls, the video, and the men) *grin* So they probably decided this was the best way to go instead of using a translator or running subtitles, which would get distracting :) On the whole, what I really like about this short and sweet video is that it is easy to follow (if you're an acid jazz fan, you'll like the music) and though simply shot without spoken English, the teaching material was adequate. It was not confusing and actually, quite inspiring!

DMSB is a good alternative to the expensive Fakini balls (which I had the previledge of handling before) but generally, much more affordable and easier to requisite. While they may look similar, a difference I must point out is that the 2 shells provided in the DMSB package are made of matching white plastic materials to complement their 4 white silicon balls. The size of the balls are just about right (so no worries if you think you may have smallish hands!) and the balls have a nice bounce to it, plus, an important thing to note is that the grip is far more superior to alternatives that may be set at a cheaper price.

Some of you may already know that Goshman ones are hard to use because they are too smooth, making it hard to grip and manipulate so you can only perform basic stuff with it. I had Vernet ones before but though they may look good on stage because they are of a knobbly silver material, they crack easily if you drop them during practice. But these balls...well, the DMSB just bounces right back up for you! :) You get what you pay for, I suppose!

So, in a nutshell:
Yes! Get it if you're serious about looking good and performing well for stage, parlour or street. This is a good investment for someone who wants to graduate to a better quality magic tool to further his or her performance journey :) I'm loving mine already...

Cheers,
Ning ^_^

This is a very good set of multiplying balls, it comes with 2 shells!!! and DVD!!!

But erm... to me, i will still stick to Fakini Multiplying Ball, Best Multiplying Ball ever manufacture. By the way, Fakini Multiplying ball is going to stop producing (heard from someone), so if you are interested in multiplying ball production, go for the best.haha

Except the fact that Fakini Multiplying balls have only 1 shell and does not provide the DVD.

LOL... true Benny. But while I'd love to drive a red hot Ferrari one day, I think most folks can only afford a BMW convertable at best if they really work hard at it... but yeah, this is the best alternative to Fakinis ;) The rumour that it'd stop in production has been around for years by the way... LOL

LOL, so i guess i am being cheated once again.... Anyway, DMSB is really a worthwhile set, i still cannot face the fact that it comes with 2 shells and DVD, and the ball is able to bounce for this price. :)

I have always wanted to have a set of Fakini balls. But for its quality, its way too expensive, Juz like Joe Porper Card clip. But price for money, no doubt.

I also like to do multiplying ball routine, and with boucing balls, it always look more convicing that you are handling right balls. :)

I certainly look forward to invest into the cheaper version, which is a good alternative to the Fakini ones.

I've played with this set before. It's good. Good grip on it. But the shell is plastic... meaning, it has a different kind of texture. But after a while, you'll probably get used to it. All in all, it's a good set worth getting if you find Fakinis too expensive.
