Here's what you get:
Solid comprehensive work on billets for the serious mentalist! In case you didn't already know, fatherly Mr. Allen Zingg is the consultant to many successful performers like Banachek, Kenton Knepper, Barrie Richardson, etc. and he is definitely a master with billet work :) This series is sold separately, with the first DVD over 2 hours long. The second comes with 2 DVDs and on the whole, I must say that this complete collection took me over 3 weeks to really absorb because it's not one of those DVDs you watch once and run out to 'play'. It's heavy on details and many gems and subtleties, which only a veteran like Allen Zingg can provide. This is like THE encyclopedia of billet work... EVERYTHING is covered, you just need to sit down and watch and choose the manymanymany techniques you wanna learn :lol:
Now this is what's great about it:
There's just so many goodies in this if I were to fawn on each aspect, this post would be reeeeeeeeeeally long ^_^ In essence, this is a fantastic investment for a student in magic who is serious in mentalism. This goes way beyond your Corinda and basic centre-tears... I dare say Allen Zingg has pretty much covered every aspect there is on billet work. There's about 8 hours of solid material in this collection, with around 40 routines (orginal stuff from Allen Zingg, as well as, contributions from veterans like Docc Hildford, Kenton Knepper, Barrie Richardson and more).
Allen Zingg is a professional performer and a patient teacher. He is very down to earth and teaches well. Explainations are easy to follow and not difficult to comprehend even if there's certain stuff you're new to. Some of you may know that Allen Zingg is the creator of the Tibetan Wishing Box effect and he shares a performance effect in the first DVD. He's got some interesting ideas on presentation too that if you're thinking of doing a you-tube on yourself, it'd be just perfect!
One of my favourite effects (Acidus Novus on DVD 1) is clearly described and explained, with various performance ideas to it. You don't have to follow these performance ideas to a T obviously, but you can reinvent and make them your own... dependent on your performing persona! ;)
So, in a nutshell:
Highly recommended! DON'T LET THE SEEMINGLY PLAIN DVD COVER DESIGN FOOL YOU!!! It's the material inside that really matters and this is really GREAT stuff. Do bear in mind that there's PLENTY of things that concern billet work, it's not just your center tears... there's plenty of psychology work involved, timed peeked, skilled switches even, and much more to elevate your skills and to give your audience something different, something better. A fair price for this 5 DVD 4-volume set :lol: This has 2 thumbs up from me!!!
