Ok ive seen the movie! On the plane ride to japan. Well i think it's inevitable that we compare it to prestige but well it is very different. This show is like a normal hollywood movie with a magician theme. The show is not ALL about magic. Plus i think the effects that they present is not real. You guys will know what i mean when you all watch it. More importantly, this show presents some cool ideas on how to handle hecklers. It's really funny how the magician tackles the prince that's ALWAYS trying to heck his tricks. It's funny. But don't worry. No exposure at all.

YES Yes yes! I have seen it on my SQ flight to new zealand. I must say it is very very nice, the story line , two thumbs up. For those who wants to watch it, look out for the amazing twist of story towards the end of the movie.

It's a great movie. Enjoyed it a lot. Nice plot and a twist in the ending.

I thought this is pretty good but i really prefer The Prestige a lot more.
I dunno if it's just me but the ending was almost predictable. And the hinge of the movie almost lies completely on the ending.
The Prestige had a lot more layers, and the characters had a lot more development. And it was better researched magic wise.

But nonetheless, still worth a watch.

1 big difference about the two shows is that one is talking about the secret of performing the illusions, but the other one is more about the story than the magic.

I prefer Prestige too but it worth the money to watch the Illusionist.

Hmm.. As for me, I think the ending was like "anyhow throw an ending". Not pleased with the ending. Thought the plot is good, it could have been better. Yupyup.

I find The Illusionist a very good show although the only technique i saw was a vision retension pass of a ball. The rest of the effects were more animated. But the orange tree effect was adapted from Robert Houdin right?

To me, this show presents a fresh insight into presention techniques. How Eisenheim uses seemingly exaggerated movements/expressions to heighten the magical experience.

He also shows an interesting way to handle hecklers such as the Prince Leopold. Instead of refusing outright, he handles the situation with ease and calm.

I cant descibe much, because its a show that you watch to appreciate. I love the twist at the end. The the girl's hot. heh.
