Title: Any Itr Brands To Recommend?

Ning - September 13, 2004 10:08 AM (GMT)
Hey guys... I've been working with IT for quite a while and enjoy it (always a shocker!) but prep work is always a chore. I'm considering investing in a ITR... anyone know any good ITR for sale? I'm on a budget here so can't get the extreme high end stuff... please post, thank you :-)

I do quite a lot of IT but i dun use an ITR so i cannot tell you whether it helps or not. But personally, i've never felt the need for one.
I know what you mean, it can be really really pesky at 1st. But over time, i have came up with a system of carrying, storing and setting up which i find is really really good for me. It can be set up within 1 min and you can be loaded, go dancing the whole night, and still perform it at a moment's notice (I know, i've done it!). I've convinced many that i can do floating bill anytime so i'm quite happy with it. I'm not sure if my system is original but i did come up with it myself, will be happy to share with you but posting here would be exposure :P

Maybe if you come for the outing................................................ B)

hahah....nah, not gonna hold you hostage. PM if you are interested :)

Cheers

hahaha... thanks ren & morphine :-D

great 2 know another thread enthusiast! *grin* i've had loops but they just aren't as invisible as the IT i have (hmmm, maybe it's bcos i'm fair skinned?) and usually more detectable...

just a few weeks ago, i was sitting outside far east shopping centre, next to borders, levitating a dry leaf.

Man... it was cute!!!

there were people who just stopped and gawked- ang mohs usually, a whole family of them, and i got to know 2 tour guides... but singaporeans as usual, are soulessly rushing about, never stopping to take a breather...

makes me wonder if street magicians would actually feel performance satisfaction if we/they go out to perform in town.

What say you? ;-)

i think the original inventor is call james george.
he's got a whole series of different ITR. the latest ones are small n good i heard.
so if u r getting one, try his product

Ning - September 15, 2004 07:43 AM (GMT)
Thanks for the advise JamKid... can i check them out @ penguin magic or which online store? i've read some bad reviews on how hard it is to rebreak or fix ITRs so i'm a wee bit hesistant cos i use a simple straightforward hookup when i'm working with them... :-)

JamKid - September 15, 2004 09:04 AM (GMT)
what kind of effect are u using the ITR for?
if u r just going to use it to store ur IT, i'll suggest Z-Web.
just do a search in penguin.
I read a few reviews on the web and seems like all suggested that Jon LeClair's materials are real good for IT works, n not ITR is required. Check up his book The Art of I.T., or the video Who's afraid of I.T.

You can also check on the micro ITR http://www.penguinmagic.com/product.php?ID=57

I think one of the better small ones would be thread boss. Do not get ITR's from India. I also feel that a ITR might not work as good as IT. The IT in ITRs are not really I (if you know what I mean). Those ITs works better. John Leclair has nice materials. I like his Leclair Animator hook up too.

Thanks much for your input, Magicdow :-)

Er... is it true that there are 2 different types of ITR? one using regular IT and another using thin elastic fishing line?

I'm looking for one that I can use generally (close up/ stage) and is relatively queit & can also be easily rethreaded. Right now I work with just IT using the hook up i learn from penguin magic (floating $ bill routine). Pls advise...

There's some stuff I'd love to get pretty soon (had just ordered hot leads from penguin when they were having their loops promotion) but since you're a dealer too, might as well support the local economy ;-) hahaha

Look forward to checking out your site when it's fully completed! :-) will u be coming down tomorrow for the gathering? look forward 2 seeing u there!

there are more than 2 types of ITR..
the type u mentioned that use fishline is actually not ITR, it's just a convention reel.
ITR comes in types, like the boss magicdow mentioned, the original ITR, and lots more.
there are difference in size, the type of IT used, like the smaller ones sometimes comes with kelver IT, and the length retractable.

Magicdow - September 20, 2004 01:44 AM (GMT)
Some ITRs are battery operated with a mercury switch. If the gimmick is tilted at a certain degree, the reel will be activated and the thread will be retracted.
One of the newer ones would be Yigal Messika's Spiderpen, never seen one before but heard great things about it.

Back to the traditional ITR, the smaller the ITR the shorter the length of the IT can be retracted. If you need to do stage stuff, get a bigger ITR. All ITRs can be refilled.
