Learn how to shuffle your new cards first cos you have to get the feeling of a slippery card. ^_^
Winder - November 21, 2004 05:05 PM (GMT)
Might want to start off with the very basic "Daryl's Encyclopedia of Card Sleights Volume 1 to 8"
It provides you with all the card sleights you need to know, or you might just want to attend MagicCastle "Quick Tricks" Classes Hehehe ^_^

You wanna learn shuffles? Ok, here's a list of basics that will be conducive for your magical performances for the future:
Overhand shuffle: Most commonly used in-the-hands shuffle in the practice of magic. Useful for card control and multiple shifts, running cards, block allocation, partial stack retention, certain key-card allocation and acquisition, and card force preparation.
Hindu Shuffle: Most commonly used in-the-hands shuffle for Singaporeans. LOL. Good for display falses, card force, card control and multiple shifts, partial stack retention, block allocation.
Riffle shuffle: Most commonly used table shuffle and standard table shuffle for many established casinos. Can be performed in the hands as well with the famous Cascade Closure. Good for full block retention, card control and multiple shifts, full stack retention, full falses.
Strip table shuffle: Not very common but has a very clinical handling which is pleasing to the eye. Variations of the strip shuffle can allow full falses and full stack retention.
The little brother of shuffles is called "the Cut." Due to rules regarding exposure, technical jargon have to be utilized in my abovementioned descriptions. If you don't know any of the terms and would want a definition, please PM me.
Who says shuffles are boring? :D

"Card??" You mean "Cut" right? Which cut are you having problems with? If I can't post it here, I'll PM you if I have a solution.

PHUTHUE hand's seems to be lag.... or clumsy.. haha
Moondust - November 24, 2004 06:31 AM (GMT)
If you wanna see clumsy, you should take a look at ME! My Sybils suck big time!
No lah, I think it's the problem with applying what is taught on text into practical performance.
hong - November 24, 2004 07:53 AM (GMT)
hmm... you can't compare phuthue with you...phuthue n i don have the talent in magic.... so we must be hardworking.... :(

Geez bro, don't put yourself down like that...
Talent isn't something we're born with, it's something that we develop over time. And don't be fooled by the way I give advice here; I'm definitely not as "talented" as you think. I may have a lot of ideas in theory, but when it comes to actual performing, my hands still turn clammy and I still screw up!
I need as much practice as anyone else. We're all on the same boat my friend :D
Winder - November 25, 2004 01:29 AM (GMT)
