How about Harada hold dvd? its a hold that look normal and u can use that for many uses as for changing coins, making coin appear from empty hands, make coin disappear . Non gimmicked :D :D

One coin routine that i recommend is Silver Dream by Justin Miller. It's impact is strong and visual, you will see vanishing of coin very visually. Every strong magic come with a price so this routine need practises in order to perfect it. There is also a gimmicked version of Silver Dream which is much more easy. ^_^

As with any branch of sleight of hand magic, I'd recommend working and getting familiar with the basics; for coin magic - the various basic palms, transfers, clips and pinches first.
Then find a routine that uses them and practice them within the context of that particular routine.
Having a decent foundation will speed up your progress in the near future.

Silver Dream really not recommended to be used in schools. Its possible, but you would only be able to do it under special circumstances. If you own silver dream you'll know i mean.
I would ask/recommend Jay Noble "In the Beginning, there were coins"
It has core essential sleights that are build a good foundation for creativity.
He teaches quite well and the angles are good for learning. I would say its a Beginner level with some advanced hard hitting routines and sleights also taught.
I hope this helps.

Agree with Fireburn. Silver Dream can't be done in school because the scenario is not right. You must be specially under that circumstance to do Silver Dream. But Silver Dream is really a good effect if you can do it well. It will just leave your audience shocked. Mastering basics of coin routines first before touching on any others. So you won't have a problem understanding what is taught and you can learn faster. Penguin Magic do offer some routines and effects regarding coins and they were quite good. You can try looking them up and look around who has it and buy it from them. Thats just what I think :D

In the Beginning There Were Coins Starring Jay Noblezada is a very god dvd for people who just start doing coin or wanna learn coin magic.

i personally feel harada hold is very weak in a working uncontrolled environment
it's great for a video youtube style trick or something u can only do to one person and not surrounded

Roland, did u saw the coin coutine palm did before the lecture? That is very clear and impactful. By any chance you know the name of the rountine? That routine is something i want to put into my personal performance.
rolandlim - June 6, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
^ no i didn't see the routine
David Stone has 2 coin routines on Real secrets of magic that are pretty darn good
highly recommended :)
he's like my new favourite magician now

Yeah. His one coin routine and coin to glass are so damn good. Coin to glass is very impromptu and quite easy to manage.
Take a look at his Coin Magic Vol 1 to 2.

the deep- chris kenner, menage et trois-chris kenner( in side his totally out of control book, one of my favourtie 3 fly, so damn visual, youtube has a video on it)

If you guys are replying to the thread starter, don't bother. He is no longer with SMC, besides, the thread was started on Nov 2006.
On a side note, Rubinstein's Knockout Coin Magic dvd is very good. It was recorded in the 80s and remastered in dvd a few years ago. Still in stock.
