Ning - September 13, 2004 10:10 AM (GMT)
Hey dudes / dudettes (if there's any out there beside me)
Does anyone have Kenton Knepper's complete Wonder Words CD collection? Pls post some personal reviews if it's worth splurging on... thanks a illion ;-)
Ning - September 14, 2004 03:09 AM (GMT)
errrr... just in case you need more details, check out kneton knepper's website at wonderwizards.com he's considered a guru in mentalism, got a few of his books (anyone wanna trade copies?) but his wonder words CD collection has been pretty much hyped about, just so very expen$ive :-P
is there any1 out there who's seriously into mentalism effects???
CLJ - September 14, 2004 04:49 AM (GMT)
I'm not experienced in mentalism, so maybe some other people might be able to help you out better, but from what I heard, the series is supposed to be awesome. I heard on another forum that one of the effects in Wonder Words was making a selected cloud disappear from the sky. And that is just un-freaking-believable. :D Sorry I couldn't help you better, I can help you do some research around the other forums though on WW. :)

It sounds like a lot of psychology principles to me.
The thing about psychological stuff is it might not always work. Also demographics also determine the "psycho-makeup" of your specs, so what works for someone growing up and living in America might not work for someone in Singapore.
BUT, it still sounds very good. I wouldn't mind getting it myself. Thou the price is a bit steep for AUDIO cd.
Cheers

hmmm... u may be a bit right, but i've got other kenton knepper stuff (check out marketplace section) and he states that as long as you communicate in English with your spectators, the performance would go smooth as planned and forcasted.
*shrug* but then, that's for card mind reading stunts... wonder words promises much much more than that. the price is VERY VERY VERY steep... so many if there's enough people interested to chip in, we can then consider... otherwise...eh, got to wait until i strike lottery (but i don't even buy it) ...LOL

Hi!
I've been eager to sample mentalism after the big influx of cardicians and the popularisation of the ACR etc. I heard from other sources that Kenton's stuff is very much based on linguistics and everything. I'd love to try book tests and all, and I'm sure Kenton is an OK place to start.

I read his Wonder Readings and i personally think it's complete crap :)
That's why we didn't eventually follow thru on getting the Wonder Words series.

Thanks for the warning Morphine! Yeah, I really don't want to do cold readings, and I'm only interested in a little bit of mentalism, like book tests, visual mentalism and the like.
Marc Salem was in Singapore last year!!! Did anyone watch his Mind Games??? Does Kenton kome klose?
peace

Please done underestimate Kenton's Wonder words series. I have tested it out on a few people and it works tremendously well. It is how you place your words that makes this a wonderful tool for cold reading. And no Ning, it works just as long as the spectator has a good command of english and actually comprehends what you say. There must me an understanding between the spectator and the performer. afterall, you cannot have a chicken talking to a duck ;)

You coming to the outing this Sat djlarazza? I'll pass you the chinese coins i said i would before, and you can show me some of that Kenton stuff... :)
djlarazza - December 10, 2004 04:04 AM (GMT)
ohhh its this sat!! I almost forgot. Thanks for the reminder.. well then, thats another trick to work on eh. Its not going to work on you now that you know it..... but i am trying to practice KENT. If I can get it by sat, you'll be the first to know my friend. Read abt KENT. I think you will prefer it over wonder words ;)

"This Sat" is actually TOMORROW mate ;)
Hope to meet you at the outing! See the outing thread in Outings and Events for details. :)

Hahahah I realised. So tired from work mate. But its all good.
I think Wonder words are more for sit in telepathists. You really need a sort of aura to project the image.
Kenton is good, but he should have kept the stuff to himself. Hahahahahahah :P

Cold reading is hot! But it's a little dangerous. A lesser performer might just screw everything up horribly. Kudos to Kenton, then!

It has little to do compared to the WW series. WW's are the BoMbUs!

Was reading through some of the older post and I saw this.
I have the wonder Words Audio series. It's a pretty long set. 3 volumes. I've only finished the first volume and that is 3 CDs long - almost three hours. I think it is a great product that deals mainly with the use of words and psychology.
To put it plainly, it is not something that will teach you new tricks, but applying just what I have learned about the usage of words, I have received very good results from my other mentalism routines. For example, with K.E.N.T., I use to get it all wrong when I first did it. People would not listen to instructions most of the time, or it would seem obvious that I am asking questions or making suggestions to eliminate the choice of cards.
With the wonder words series, (it take effort and time to script a good script), you will learn how to use indirect suggestions that will be more effective then direct suggestions, how to link two separate ideas into one catergory in the spectator's mind, how to phrase sentences so that when the spectator watch you perform, they think you are 'world-class' without you having to saying anything about yourself. (You subconsciously sow that thought to them). You learn how to adverbs or words ending with 'ly', to cause a spectator to subconsciously accept a statement of yours as being true without questioning much in his mind. How to get someone to do something without much objections when they normally would by linking another sentence together, and so much more.
And note that I have only listened to the first volume of 3CDs, but I have gone through it 3 times. It sure takes effort and practise to get a good grasp of the techniques involved.
If you are getting this product, make sure you get the workbook as well as that will really accelerate your learning.

sounds really good.
Thanks for the review.
I've been considering to buy this for a long time now. The price kinda put me off, as I'd had rather get some books filled with solid material.
However, I feel something's been missing in my presentation..
