betram change!(still practising)

nawniloc - November 25, 2006 12:29 PM (GMT)
I like all the colour changes but usually, I will prefer to use shapeshifter or erdnase colour change.

If I am performing to one spectator only then sometimes I will use snap change. Love that effect.

Most of the other changes are quite angle sensitive. Will use them more for video.

EGO CHANGE!!!! ^_^

Ego changes is one of the best!!!!!!!!! :P

Go Ego, Go Ego.

YES!! GO EGO CHANGE!!! Can't believe its still at 14%

Lamadude - November 25, 2006 05:33 PM (GMT)
i believe why Erdnase colour change is popular it is because it has been made popular by ellusionist. and frankly speaking it is quite easy to do.

I think Erdnase color change is popular not because of Ellusionist, but the color change itself is very visual, and easy to perform, unlike other color change, this is definitely not angle sensitive. Thats well it is popular.

Sometimes, i feel that some basic moves is much safer and better than those crazy sleights.

Lamadude - November 26, 2006 01:29 PM (GMT)
Sorry my mistake. haha. I learned it from ellusionist as one of their free trick i think. one of the first new tricks i learned. So i would naturally think it is made popular from there. but i agree with you that it is not take angel sensitive and easy to do. yeah!

I like Erdnase, it is simple and gets a good reaction if done correctly, i.e smoothly with a short pause before you reveal the "changed" card for effect. Shapeshifter is good too but I find it problematic when using non-bordered cards like Bees and Sun Cruises.

muscleaxl - November 29, 2006 06:54 AM (GMT)
I actually voted for Shapeshifter but it is not the original version I had in mind. Rather it is the "one-handed" version where you simply swing the card and it changes.

Think you can find it on one of Penguin's tricks, Joker's Wild.

Using the pass as a colour change is my favourite, because its visual and you get to show the spectator which card changes with which other one in the middle of the deck

thatsyafiq - February 18, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
The shape shifter! It is a really very visual and in-your-face change. I just saw a variation of it called the 'snap change', using just one hand to flick it over. Can find it in the Officaly Poker Chip and Card Handling DVD

niquetan - February 19, 2007 04:24 AM (GMT)
Definitely the Erdnase, though I do a couple of variants when the situation permits.

Also a colour change of mine I call the "Elevated Erdnase".

FireBurns - March 10, 2007 11:46 AM (GMT)
Winter Change.
I saw that no one mentioned it so I thought I'd say it.

Its one worth learning and it can change the top card to a card in the middle of the deck.

Ego is also a worthwhile change. If you get it down to when its as easy as a Erdnase

Practice is worth alot. Versitility is even better. :)

extremer - March 13, 2007 03:47 AM (GMT)
Erdnase colour change would be most magician favourite. I don't feel shape shifter have a very big impact. Upon close lookout, some smart people will know how it is done. I feel Erdnase change easier to master

Ace - March 13, 2007 12:15 PM (GMT)
Actually i think that the one handed shape shifter had alot of impact cos it is very visual. You can see the card slowly "melt" and change into another card.

For those who like the card to change at a fast speed, you can try the normal shapeshifter or snap change.

The ego change can also be modified to create a snap change like effect. Instead of waving your hands over the card, snap the card.

BangHao - March 14, 2007 04:07 AM (GMT)
Shapeshifter is the best. Simple yet effective. When i first got to know how is it done,i almost fainted cause it is so easy yet deceptive. Doesn't need to have a complicated colour change to show to layman,to them a card have change to another, that all. B)

llamalamer - March 15, 2007 05:37 AM (GMT)
I'm will and always be in favor of the Hurricane Change by Harry Levine.

See it performed on the intro of Shade The Movie by R. Paul Wilson and here:

just to clarify - is the one-handed shapeshifter change actually ed marlo's "in lieu of vernon's through-the-fist move"? cos if it is, that is also one of the changes i like. easy to do, but hard to make it look good and deceptive. amazingly shocking to laypeople even though the method may seem a bit lame.

mattlee - April 29, 2007 04:18 PM (GMT)
Isn't the 'one-handed shapeshifter' Ed Marlo's twirl change? Cos' if it is it's my favorite move of all time. One handed. which means you can do stuff in the left hand.....

sheeke - April 29, 2007 06:03 PM (GMT)
Usually the other hand does not do anything as when doing that colour change, you want all of the attention to the change as it is sort of a climax

Just my 2 cents

muscleaxl - April 30, 2007 05:17 AM (GMT)
Wah... I really don't know what the "one-handed shapeshifter" name is. I just call it this because either Greg Wilson or Richard Sanders mentioned it as such.

Not sure if it's the twirl change or not. I thought it was came up by Sankey.

alafista - April 30, 2007 07:24 AM (GMT)
Somehow I think the Erdnase color change is more visual like a more magical feel to it and I prefer to use it compared to the shapeshifter which somehow my friends perceive it as more of a sleight of hand than magical (I think its my lousy showmanship).

Haven't learnt the ego change yet. Still a noob :D

joeltay81 - April 30, 2007 08:13 AM (GMT)
Gimmicked change allowed as an option as well? LOL. Moving points?

Ace - April 30, 2007 10:24 AM (GMT)
Agreed!! Moving points is the most visual colour change I've seen so far!

exohordon - April 30, 2007 11:04 AM (GMT)
I would say WOW wins handsdown.
