Title: Electric Touch
Description: Is it worth the price?
[Vincent] - December 2, 2006 10:53 AM (GMT)
Hey to all all members out there, I've been considering whether i should get Electric Touch by Yigal Mesika and Zeev Fleischman. Does anyone of you have this trick? I would like to know whether it is worth its price? Its one of the most expensive tricks out there. So anyone of you could advise me?

There was a very long and extensive thread about this product in these forums somewhere, but I couldn't find it again.
Maybe you can try digging around for it if you really want more information. There were some very good routine ideas for this effect from some of our forumites.
I guess it depends on how you use it. Some loved it, some didn't think too much of it. If you look around the forums, there are some 2nd hand ones going for quite cheap too.

The electric touch is very good. It really depends on how you want to use it.
Put in lots of thought into how you want to use it, and read a few good books like Strong Magic.
A word of warning though, attaching ET to your body is really problematic. It'll take a week to set-up.
Welcome to our forum.

Very very very problematic..
Took me like months to figure and play with it.. Definitely something you CANNOT use right out from the box..

It's not problematic. I took the set up to a store and they got the permenant set up done for me on the spot after reading the instructions. (You will know what I mean when you get it). There isn't much practise needed to do a good presentation of the effect.
No one has figured out how the trick works even when I do it at casual settings - and repeatedly (something I never do with other effects). And up to now, it is one of the effects that friends/people request for me to perform the most. The visual effect is something that will stay with spectators long after you have done the effect. I'm getting a replacement for my faulty Electric Touch.

Oh my, this one is really devious. It is so cool to perform the deck cutting itself trick using the M5 and later giving your spectator a shock. You tell them you can generate static electricity to move the cards and they would be totally blown away. The coolest effect i would say is the bending of the flow of water. Although its expensive, its a very cool device to use for magic.

Yea. Cool until the water bends and touches your finger tip... and you get a shock by few times stronger then usual. Happened to me once.
The device is very versatile, but the 2 cons it has is that it spoilt easily. Considering that it is so expensive, the last thing you want is something that spoilt easily. Secondly, the set up requires sending it to a shop to get it set up (If you want it to look nice) which causes even more money.
The effects are great though and the gimmick hard to detect.
The way I use ET and M5 is different. I use M5 to activate the ET instead of using the normal activation tool provided when you buy ET. Try stopping a watch or lighting a flourescent tube and then shocking them after. Might be a stronger effect then just a "haunted-deck-like" effect.

I guess why you said it spoils easily. The M5 is very strong. If you get what I mean. It spoils electrical appliances. So i guess when you used M5 with ET, it will break down easily. Something inside will spoil. You can try using M5 on your mobile phone. Same thing it will break down. Lols, so I guess better not use M5 with ET. Thats my advice then. Anyways, I am getting ET soon=)

I do not own the ET but I am also looking into buying it (not for the time being at least). Below are some of the reviews that I managed to search and hope it is useful to you:
The DVD
The DVD, starts with Yigal doing some performanes out on the street and then he moves into the device itself. He shows you a couple ways to set it up and explains everything you need to know along with some performance ideas.
The Device
The device is rock solid, and is fairly easy to set up. No one ever suspects a thing because it is so secretive. The gimmick is very well made and in order to setup it up permanently you might need to buy something. It can break if your not carfeul but as long as you watch what your doing it should be fine.
Effects
Here's a list of effects with this amazing gimmick.
Bend water
Build up brainwaves and have spectator select a finger, only that finger will shock them. (ET DVD)
Have the spectator select a card, then "beam" it to you, as soon as the shock occurs mutter out their card as if you have no control over what your saying, then act surprised after you say it.
Levitate confetti (ET DVD)
Levitate a Dollar (ET DVD)
In 2CM, shock the person to change the cards (ET Page)
Grab someones arm and "infuse" them with power and then have them shock someone.
Haven't tried it, but looks pretty cool to light a light bulb with your fingers.
Cause radio's to have alot of static, you'd be surprised how much this freaks people out.
And the list goes on.
Setups:
The Easy Setup: :
This is the first setup taught on the DVD:
Pros
Easy to setup- 5 minutes or less
You can do this setup right out of the box
Cons
Fairly fragile, can break easily
Can be detected at one angle
Have to re-set it up every time you want to use the ET
Professional Setup
This is the second setup taught by Mr. Mesika, the one that he uses:
Pros
Set it and forget it, Once you set it up this way it is very easy to get up and go out with you ET
Very Undetectable
Rock Solid.
Cons
Still can technically be detected from one angle.
P.E.T.S
PETS, is an alternate setup of the Electric Touch that you get when you order it, this setup far surpasses the two setup's that come with the ET.
Pros
99.9% undetectable- Much less detectable than the setup's included with the DVD
Faily easy to setup
Cons
Fair amount of setup, but still less than the professional setup explained in the DVD.
Overall
Based on the comments by so many people, I leave it to you.
Let your imagination runs wild.

No. Not because M5 is too strong for ET. Rather, there is a weak spot in the design of ET that breaks easily. Can't describe more without exposure.
