Hey guys, been trying to learn from mark wilson's complete guide and royal road to card magic...but still cant seem to visualize the technique properly...

Can someone suggest any good DVDs to learn card (and coin if possible) from? hopefully it'll work better than books...^^;

There are pros and cons learning from the dvd. From books, each person will understand the words from the books differently. End state, you might perform the sleights differently from what the author had intended to explain. You also got no chance to see how the author actually performed it in real life, and thus forcing you to think about your own presentation.

Learning from dvd on the other hand would be easier in a sense that you get the visuals. It's almost like sitting down for a one to one lecture. In fact, you can even repeat the segments that you are in doubt infinitely. In any case, people will tend to copy what they see on the dvds. The lines that work for them, might not necessarily work for us. Do take note.

Have you seen Michael Ammar's easy to master card miracles? I think that series of DVDs is simply great. You need not necessarily get the entire set. Maybe 2-3 volumes is great for a start. You will surely find something you can use in the volumes. Till today, I use the routines featured in his dvds more than anything else.

As for coins?.. I am not a coin worker. So, just wait for others to reply. Have fun!

As for coins, some good dvds are David Roth's Expert Coin Magic, Michael Ammar's Introduction to Coin Magic. It a great start for beginners.
You may want consider Jay Sankey's Revolutionary Coin Magic though i think that's not excatly for beginners.
Last but not least, Bobo's Modern Coin Magic. It is a book and so has got plenty of information, plus it not expensive.

Hmm... what level is your cards at? If you are at beginner level, maybe this few would help:

- Born to Perform Card Magic: OZ Pearlman (My all-time fav card DvD)
- Crash Course 1 and 2: Brad Christian

For me, I learned almost all my stuff through videos because I can't read books too.

Regarding having your own style.. yes, I agree at the start you would inevitably copy the platter and style of the performer, but after you have some experience in performing, I believe you would evolve your own style.

I mean, I've watched Ninja series and many other videos by Brad, but I didn't like his style, so I didn't follow his at all. You would know it.

You can consider getting Daryl's Encyclopedia in Card Sleights as your next step as well. Build up your technical skills from there ;)
