Title: Um... What's Up
Description: Topic Description? Huh?!
CLJ - September 13, 2004 10:21 AM (GMT)
What's up mates. :D
Well, it isn't ordinary for me to register at a forum whose link is sent through private messaging over at other forums. Yeah, I treat most of those messages as spam. But I'm making an exception here considering that it's a gathering of Singaporean dudes. Don't get me wrong, I dislike Singapore intensely, but I'm figuring we could all share a little love of magic/flourishing/whatever around the island, seeing that singapore is such a tiny place. Strengthen the bonds of the singaporean magic community, I say. Get ready to read one of the longest introductions in this forum so far, which I like doing (writing super long, boring and sense-dulling intros about myself). If you are pregnant, have heart problems, or...um, anyway...
Yeah, as you would have all guessed by now, yes, I am from Singapore. I'm Chris, and I'm 14. Turning 15 in October. (I had to say that to make myself feel older seeing that I'm probably the youngest dude in here). Well, I study at ACS (I), and I've been doing magic for the past 1 and a half years after a magician at Boston blew me away, and following that the great Mr. Huron Low blew me away AGAIN by stealing off my watch in my school cafeteria. (how incredibly embarrassing yet inspiring at the same time :P ) I consider myself a cardist, and I do lots of flourish-integrated magic that is primarily inspired by the future of card magic, yes, Dan and Dave Buck, and (ahem*shameless promotion*ahem) give their webbie a little peek if you have the time at www.dananddave.com and judge for yourselves how good they are (and see why they inspire me). :D :D
NOthing much more to say except that other inspirations for me at this point of time in my magic are Gregory Wilson, Tom Mullica, David Acer, David Regal, Brian Tudor, Tommy Wonder, and for pickpocketing (which I do as well), Apollo Robbins (best pickpocketer I've ever seen). :) :)
Some of the singaporean dudes I hang out with (and probably some of the best in Singapore as well) are people like yes, Th3 man himself, Bone (no need for any mention because most of you guys probably already know who he is), Mr. Kevin Ho (extra-ordinary flourisher/magician, most of you guys probably know who he is as well, if not, IF he does register at this forum do check out his webbie and you'll see how awesome he is), Huron (ingenious flourisher/magician from my school, creator of the incredible, mind blowing, flabbergasting, sense-numbing, impossible, abstract and devastating Fire in the Hole, most of you guys probably know who he is as well), Justin (excellent magician), and technically I do hang out with myself as well because I'm a loner. :D Unfortunately, not many people here would know me as compared to guys like Bone and Huron and Kevin, etc, thus the long introduction. :) If you ever go to the Magic Castle and you don't know who any of these dudes (or me :P ) are, go ask Solomon, and he'll tell you wonders about them (and um, hopefully, about me too :D ). (BTW, ask Solomon to show you any of his effects that he created, and you'll freak the hell out B) )
if you've made it this far sorry for boring you with this long introduction and well, looking forward to meeting all of you guys here, at the Magic Castle, or wherever. I may seem really outspoken here, but in real life, hang out with me and you may mistake me to be a wooden log and die of boredom. Yeah, but that's it for now. B) Ciao!
Chris

Welcome to the group CLJ, and thank you for not treating my message as spam :)
You sure know your magic scene well, definitely much better than me :) And I've been a magic hobbist for almost as long as you are old  shame shame....
Hope to see you contributing frequently soon and maybe come from the outing and I might learn a thing or two from you ;)
Cheers

No one else wants to welcome me. How sad. :P I guess they all fell asleep halfway through reading my introduction. I don't blame them. :D

Hey "klijj", if that's how you pronouce it :P
Anyways, this guy here is prolly THE MOST forum-nated guy on the web... whatever magic forum there is, he's there. His posts are long and useful, just like my.... spinal cord. He's a nice guy too, and is obsessed with Lindsay Lohan ;)

CLJ IS THE MAN... no pun intended.
Everyone knows what he loves to say. He loves to lind-say. Lohan. He wants Moore of Mandy.
CLJ is a super knowledgeable and skilled bugger who has cards in his pocket, but never takes them out. It kind of defeats the purpose of pockets. But pockets defeat the purpose of hands. So it all kinda cancels out. You probably get my drift.
Anyway, CLJ speaks too highly of other people, but none of himself. You know why? Because self praise is no praise. HAHA. No. He is another super humble guy you'll meet. In person he seems all shy. But in actual fact, he's actually sizing you up and plotting to kill you. :D He is one of the best guys to have around, especially when you get to know him better. His flourishing is so graceful and smooth... but he has so high expectations of himself he's never satisfied with his already insane skill. An amazing thinker and fantastic magician, with small hands. And of course you all know what they say about guys with small hands... they wear small gloves. =p Rock on Chris.

Oh Chris. I just met him recently but I saw him(you) a loooong time ago at castle when i was still starting out. The story:
I met this other guy at castle(i believe his name was Matthew.. but i honestly cant remember) and he was showing me some flourish cuts which at that time made me drop my jaw. And those cuts were like the simpler 3 packet cuts  I casually remarked "hmm im thinking of getting capcuts" and this guy said.. "erm i think it will be too tough for you". I was pretty insulted and didnt touch flourishes for awhile cos of that. Whats too tough with lots of practice?
Aaaanyway... right after he said that Chris walked in and the Matthew(?) guy said to me "Oh this guy is damn good!" and abandoned me to learn stuff from Chris. Haha. I remember Sol also saying that Chris is a "skilled bugger".
(However a also remember Chris tryin to learn the WTH cut from Kev that day too)
So this is my little encounter with the man of many words, the man of great humility.. the patriot( :P i still dunno why u hate this place so much). Its just a little ego boost to
GET EM CARDS OUTTA YO POCKETS!!

Actually, he's from my school. YOu can ask Huron. He got Huron interested in card magic. Haha. :D Actually, I think Huron hated card magic before this. Matthew wanted Card stunts, and asked Huron to buy it or something. Huron got a good look at Gregory Wilson do his work and was instantly taken. :D

Chris' welsome page looks more like a testimonial than a welcome page. :P
Ha ha. Lets all learn from each other and share some great memories guys.

CLJ!!! CORRECTION!!!
MATHEW DID NOT. I REPEAT. DID NOT GET ME INTERESTED IN CARD MAGIC.
Greg Wilson INSPIRED me in CARD STUNTS to pick up the very fabulous art. I did Mathew a favour by getting the vid for him. He let me watch it. I watched the performance and was BLOWN away. And yes, I HATED card magic before this. Haha...My god... I never realized that you guys were talking about that Mathew(yes spelt with one 't'). I totally forgot that he was a magician till CLJ mentioned he was from my school. Haha... :P

sorry, my mistake. :D well, I guess indirectly he did you a huge favor by asking you to pick up that vid for him. If not Huron would be vanishing candy bars from kids now instead of kicking butt at card magic, flourishing and other cardist-y stuff. :P :D
