REVIEW BY NING of THE LITTLE MAGIC SHOP

Live at the Jailhouse 3 Disc DVD Set

Much like the Dan Tong videos reviewed previously, this is a very solid DVD collection of professional restaurant workers at work plus so much more! :) Each DVD starts with and contains candid interviews with all the veteran magicians regarding restaurant work.

IMHO, this information is invaluable if you want to break into this particular market and is really a complete gem which one would have paid for when buying books on restaurant work like Magic Menu and books by Jim Pace and Kirk Charles. There is a TON of solid info and it really is worth (more than) the price of the DVD set!

The performers showcase their unique styles, different personalities and various type of magic for real audiences… at least more real than some studio audience on popular teach-in DVDs. They do not teach all the effects that they perform but that does not reduce the value of the DVDs in anyway. Most routines that are not taught are either the respective performers’ version of standard classics or are already taught in other videos or books. The routines that are all taught are highly commercial and extremely suitable for almost any close-up condition. Walkaround performers will find many great effects in here as well.

Two of my favourite routines include: Kirk Charles’ Chop Cup routine using a glass Shot Glass covered with a napkin. It's reeeeeeally SWEET! ^_^ Garrett Thomas’ moves are totally smooth and his Rubik’s Cube & coins routines are incredible! I'd so recommend getting this DVD set along with Dan Tong's 2 DVD set (see previous reviews from The Little Magic Shop *grin*) and you will be set to conquer the restaurant market [insert bellowing evil laugh]. Highest recommendation and tremendous value for money!!! ^_^

P.S. The food at the Jailhouse restaurant looks yummy… *tummy grumble*

Cheers,
Ning ^_^
