That's right, SMC is now "famous", internationally no less.....
....according to some spammers.

Some of you might have noticed SMC was the target of a high number of spam-bots recently, porn and otherwise.
That is because we have been identified by these spamming companies as a high traffic area that is worth their effort in sending their armies of spam-bots to try to siphon some traffic from us.
Dispite our current no free email policy and email validation system, about 1 - 2 still manages to slip thru everyday.
These are usually banned within minutes and deleted after a few days to make sure they don't come back.

But that's not all. There are now some spamming companies based in Europe and China that are sending out spam mails and forging an SMC email address!
I've been getting a lot of returned emails for emails sent out by emails like jenniferho@singaporemagiccircle.com and kxxt@singaporemagiccircle.com. :wacko:
Apparently, they have been sending out spam mails in SMC name by spoofing our domain name in their email, in an attempt to appear more credible to the receivers. Muscleaxl has bought this up some time ago before but it is really hitting the big time recently.
Actually, I'm really pissed off by this :angry: but technology wise, there's not very much I can do, and whatever I CAN do, I've been trying to implement the changes the last few weeks to improve it. :angry: <_<

But i guess, on the upside, when the spammers are trying to pretend to be you, that means we are somehow "recognised" as credible by them. :unsure:

So yeah, SMC is now "internationally famous"......if you go by what the spammers think of us. :unsure: :wacko: :g: :blink:

You must be super bored to think of that, but well, you are quite right about that. But ITS GETTING QUITE IRRITATING!!

Because we have youngsters in this forum, it is not good to see those spam spam around.

I also belong to another work group and I always got spam mails with domain names behind, and someone it is not a public forum, its a private server and people still want to hit on us.

I wonder when will this spam companies get a life of their own.

Its really a headache but since there's like no solution, i guess SMC has just got to live with the downside of being so 'famous'...
