hey Thomas. It a excellent idea. But would be a little angly don't you think. Either have to perform it down low or to you side. But it is definitely interesting. Maybe you wanna speed up a little big.

Make your transfer to back P*** a little faster. Also when it's in BP position, close all ur finger, but keep them relaxed. Lastly i think you should make your movements of hands more fluid. Keep them moving and flow. Use them to show the other hand, gesture, point, stuff like that.

Don't show one hand empty while the other hand is still and not doing anything. One, it is visually beautiful and two, it works as misdirection. If you hands are still for too long, audience will think: 'hmm is it's not in the left hand, it must be in the right.' That kinda stuff.

MOd's note: Post edited for spellings and paragraphs. Try to break your post into paragraphs to make reading easier. Thanks.

Acutally it is not a back P***. Its Tenkai back Clip aka Goshman Pinch.

I think Thomas did quite well in this routine.

Thanks.... It took me some time to reach this speed. So I think it will take me even more time to make it goes faster than this :( I will keep practising :)

I expected comments on my fingers.... When my fingers are straighten. My middle finger and my 4th finger has a big gap at the upper portion. They have a BIG "buttocks" :) So.... I had no choice unless undergo some finger surgery :D This is also a reason why I can't do a nice card palm - invisble palm  Do anyone has the same problem?

For angles, I just make sure no one stands on my left. Front, should not be a problem :)

Just saw Bernard's reply - Thanks! That is encouraging :)

Hmm, so is it a Tenkai or Goshman sleight? Or both of them came up with the sleight? Thanks, for the info anyway, I am interested in this kinda thing.

Its by Tenkai but popularised by Goshman.

chanzian - January 18, 2007 03:37 PM (GMT)
what's the differences between tenkai and back P?

muscleaxl - January 19, 2007 09:40 AM (GMT)
Hey Thomas, playing magic during working hours? Don't be like some teacher in the forum who does that too, at the expense of their students. Imagine it's your kids he is teaching. :P :P

Ok, back to the clip. Can't really find anything wrong from the video. Only a tad too slow for me. Tenkai is really not the easiest sleight to do (at least for me), you did it quite well, I must say.

REgarding angles, I think you can always shift your body when facing with live audiences. And yes, maybe you can speed up the whole thing, if not, staring at your hands for too long the hands will make people suspicious.

Generally, quite good!

Back P involves the use of the 1st finger.

Its goshman pinch alright. Anyway I think the slowness can be forgiven, I don't feel it should be done too fast, will lack of the magic effect.

Hmm, only thing i notice is why you have to keep your left fingers touching your right fingers everytime on the sleight? I think its minor la, up to indivdual.

The only sad thing is not able to open up the fingers, I myself think of some way, and I feel that you can keep your fingers slightly open, look yourself in the hand during the pinch and open small gaps of the rest of the fingers, don't make it too big, small but obvious gap.

I think it sells the idea that its natural better, then keeping your palm palm out.

Hello Muscleaxl, I thought I have "purposely specified" that it was taken during LUNCH B) so.... I am a good employee :) Anyway, teaching with the help of magic is not a bad idea, it can arouse the kids' learning interest. We should feel sad if there is only one teacher doing it :D

Back to topic, it is not a habit that left fingers keep touching your right fingers everytime on the sleight la. I can do without that. I can only blame the cameraman (that is me, myself :P )for giving me a small screen area to show both of my hands. So, it is a bit squeezy there. I watch at the screen display instead of my hands when recording....

Just doing the pinch itself is not that difficult. It is the transfer from a sleight position to another sleight that is not easy and slowing down... this is also one of the reason why I need to "slow" down the pace. I thought of this transfer myself and I am wondering if there is a better method to execute to get simliar effect? Showing back of the palm and then front of the palm empty... and then.....Or it is actually redundant and we can actually start straight from pinch position?

Any advise?

If you wear a jacket, a sleeve work will solve your issue. But other than that, hiding the coin while showing both side is empty, I personally think its hard, unless you do a transfer then show the hand empty.

Any stronger advise from coin worker?
