Title: Pk Ring
Description: Recommendations

Sehnsucht - January 27, 2007 03:55 AM (GMT)
Hello everyone.

I would like to invest on a PK ring for my mentalism routines and I was wondering since there are so many rings in the market, which of them are most reliable? If you can, list the cost as well.

Thanks.

I bought one from The Little Magic Shop, called "Wizard PK Ring", Silver. I am very happy with it. Looks classic and fashionable. It's quite powerful too.

How do you choose the size of the ring? Just by estimation?

Sehnsucht - March 8, 2007 05:08 PM (GMT)
There's a ring sizer available on the internet. Just search for it, print and follow the instructions to measure you ring size.

Do spectators often ask to see your ring when you do PK effects? That has been one of the reasons why I never got one. When Using M5, spectators always assume that it is my ring that is 'gimmicked' or my watch. When they test both and see that neither the watch nor ring is 'gimmicked', they are usually quite impressed. But the ring always seem to be the first thing they suspect.

Do you get requests to test if your ring is gimmicked when you perform using PK rings?

Sehnsucht - March 9, 2007 04:08 AM (GMT)
For me, I do not just do an standalone effect with pk ring. It would definitely get them suspicious.

I try to set up a routine that is related to the particular effect I'm doing with the pk ring with the starting effects having no relation to the ring at all.

For example, if I'm doing some penetration effects.

I'll start with my own Signed Coin to Card box, then Sinful, then do effects that relates to pk ring, (penetration mostly). That way you have a logical routine that you plan for them.

So if you perform for them for quite a while you condition them to the ring, and it will eventually be hidden in plain sight. So I do not get questions about my ring that much.

For mentalism, if lets say I want to do a pk effect. I do not just jump straight into moving some object. I would do haunted deck, box monster, some levitations of objects then either end with a PK effect or mix it in between those tricks.

This way, people would not relate the ring to anything, other than an accessory for magicians to beautify their dexterous fingers.

i have one by wizards. it looks nice and the magnetic strength is high.
i was wearing the ring and i want to eat love letters...those in a tin container one...the whole tin just attracted to my hand with a big "tiak" sound...shocking people around me and even myself hahahah. This was not a trick but a freak thing that happened. And that is how powerful it is. I can hold up the entire tin hanging on my palm and no one suspected the ring.

Which reminds me of an incident when i was eating the korean hotplate. My hand got sucked towards the plate which was like hot enough to fry anything at the moment. Kind of off topic but just a warning for those who want to use the ring, kindly take note of safety precautions.

Do remember the ring pose hazzard to some equipments. Careful of your handphone too. I own a PK Wizard Ring . There a few model out there seem to be much stronger than the original. Haiz. Overall I think any type will be good.

Eric - March 13, 2007 06:08 AM (GMT)
... and don't hold your wallet that contains all the ATM and credit cards with your (ring) hand

Ning - March 21, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
LOL... all the usual common sense stuff applies. Markiebeth's story about the Korean hotplate is the scariest tho... WHAT WERE YOU THINKING!?!?! :ph43r: :o :!!:

There's several kinds out there in the market... so it's really which design you like really. My stand is to go for things that are the original thought, simply because it's about ethics... it's not nice to support unoriginal 'magicians' who are just in it for petty financial gains & rip hardworking creators off.

Some might not know but Wizard PK recently have a new ring out, called the G2 ^_^ As usual, it comes in gold or silver but has a more classic design. Think LOTR style, without the funky fonts... Check it out :)

ok i am just asking now what effect you can acheive with a pk
can u do coin vanishes similar to those of sms and raven or looks a bit alike

Ning - March 23, 2007 11:44 AM (GMT)
Kinda, if you want to utilize the PK Ring for that, it's not a problem... tho I'd say just learn the required coin sleights or get a raven/ SMS if you want to emulate the exact same execution  In case you didn't already know, Wizard PK recently released a new DVD on routines using their ring which has routines that involve coin transpositions, etc. Maybe you'd wanna check it out.

The most realistic wedding PK ring I have found is at site

http://www.supermagnetman.net/

They cost between USD 7.00 and 9.00 depending upon the size and shipping cost to Singapore is USD 5.00

Rings arrive in 5 days time to Singapore. The rings are almost as powerful as Wizard PK but slightly cheaper. Please note that unlike Wizard ring this ring does not come with life time warranty. They come in many sizes.
To know your ring size you can go to any jewellry store and get asian/american ring size. This site sells rings in american sizes.

Hmm theres a life time warrenty for a ring?

That means when break can change a new one?
Cause i understand that pk rings are very fragile.

wwdbs - May 3, 2007 03:57 AM (GMT)
The warranty is not applicable if the ring is broken.
Different vendors have different warranty terms that are quite fair.

Like http://www.blacksmagicgroup.com offers
following

1.) If you gain weight, you can send the ring back for a larger size.
2.) If you lose weight, you can send it back for a smaller size.

I've gone through 4 rings in my magic career and most of the time, the ring barely lasts a week...Call me clumsy...I was wondering, wats ur favourite effect with the ring??

bigbadwolf - February 13, 2008 04:01 PM (GMT)
Anybody tried the rings from SuperMagnetMan?

They are cheap but not too sure about their magnetic strength.

Magicdow - February 14, 2008 03:49 AM (GMT)
They are actually not bad cosidering the price. The strength is good and it should be able to do what other rings can achieve.

BangHao - February 14, 2008 02:44 PM (GMT)
Any effect for PK ring other than watch stop?

I am a bit disappointed with the Wizard Pk cause the strength is really weak. You need to get really close to the watch or should i say exactly behind in order to work. That mean i can't do it while the audience is wearing the watch. Before i get the ring, i imagined myself performing while holding on to audience wrist, partly my fault also for not doing some research on the strength.

I'm a newbie to PK/Ma*****c effects. I'm considering purchasing a PK Ring because it seems very versatile, besides the m5. But i noticed that there are a lot of different PK Rings out in the market, with different designs/carvings, and strength. Has anybody here tried them out or compared? Any reviews or recommendations? Thanks!

Wow.. I can't seem to understand both of the trick using PK

I'm new to this PK thing too.

Slightly :off: here
------
I've watch the trailer of De'Ring, and read some review here and there, that the type of ring should have some texture, and most PK is plain.

So i'm wondering is there any PK ring which have some texture or an eye in it, that can be use for De'Ring also ? That way i can use it for both effects :P

Thanks ^_^

bigbadwolf - March 3, 2008 04:14 PM (GMT)
Hi qureyoon,

I don't think you can do the fancy drama De'Ring provides with a PK ring, if you have a PK ring, you will realised that it is pretty fragile.

I have seen a couple of magicians owning custom designed PK rings (Cyril & Lu Chen), and I have no idea where they got theirs done.

You have to buy the tricks to understand then. ^_^

So.. there is a custom made one then ? If you happen to know where to get this custom one, do let me know ;)

Considering to learn PK later ^_^ since as a beginner i tend to want to know everything :P

Thanks for the reply bro ^_^

bigbadwolf - March 4, 2008 02:15 AM (GMT)
Not a problem, dude ^_^

Achmed - March 7, 2008 04:37 AM (GMT)
PK Ring is rather strong. I used it once and found it can diswire a computer system when I put
it in front of my computer monitor.
