Title: My Huanted Deck
Description: Can Spec shuffle?

ThomasLim - February 14, 2007 06:48 AM (GMT)
Haha.... feeling bore and decided to take a really quick shot on my Haunted Deck trick in the middle of night

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CwLeVtSUaUs

Purpose of this clip is to find out if the normal Haunted deck could allow shuffling by spec? I thought of this method which allows, but since there is no one else around that could help... I have to shuffle it myself :)

Another thing - my house lightings are giving me problem - only my Left hand shadow is willing to help in the trick as you can see from the video :D

I know I am really bad in handling cards :(

Cheers!

I haven watch the clip, (my company blocked you tube) But I am able to answer your questions, so later I post in my comments.

There is an impromtu Haunted Deck. Daniel Garcia has a haunted deck routine that allows people to shuffle the cards before picking their card.

Also, another effect called the monster box, can also allow the deck to be shuffled, cause its using a different tools from the original haunted deck, and the handling is much easier than haunted deck. You might want to check that out. The creator name I forget, its at ellusionist. You can search monster box for that.

Okie, thats all.. I review your video later..

Cya!

Forget to mention, the original haunted deck, that i watched from Michael Ammar, cannot be shuffled, but you can do a like real shuffle to show that the deck is normal. :)

Sorry dude, have to shoot you down on this.

No that good. The steps are correct, but not natural. The way you handle the deck is too suspicious.

I know what ulitility you used, let say, you have to act like nothing is there.

So generally, work on getting the hook up done naturally, then we see what else can be done.

Good try though.

Sorry if its too direct.

This one is EXTREMELY difficult to do it WELL.. Its actually achieved purely by sleight of hand if I didnt remember wrongly.. Not recommended at all.

I think that is more towards another classic, the rising card effect.

If its the one from Ammar's easy to master card miracles (I think that version of haunted deck originated by Al Baker), I believe it can be shuffled. You'll need to know sleights to control a card to the bottom, thats all. That isnt too much of a problem..

Okay here are my opinions. :P

I personally feel that the BEST BEST BEST haunted deck version is actually the loops version. Yes, Yigal Mesika's Loops. Its not very expensive as well, and loops is one of the most useful things ever invented in magic.

Shuffle the deck, borrowed deck, impromptu, can check before and after the trick (really check throughly, 1 card by 1 card also can), and under most conditions/environment also can do. What's better?

If you dont have loops, you dont know what you missing out.. Basically, with loops, you can move anything that is lighter than half a deck of cards, so why not do haunted deck with it? Its simply the most practical and best version that I ever come across, and I believe it'll still be in future.

On second thought, after viewing your video again.. You're indeed using the loops version! Hahaha!

Fantastic.. Glad that you know that version! :D

dtjk, the impromtu one is super difficult. I love the effect, but its too hard to execute properly. It will take alot of practise to get it down. Alot of Daniel Garcia's sleights are too crazy, Aka the single point production.

As for Box Monster, ya, the principal is for rising card, but it can be done as a haunted deck, just different handling of the tool.

As for Michael Ammar, I will say, it is restricted shuffle. LOL!!

Ya, I agree that the loop version is the best, hook it on, and you are set to go.

Thomas need to work on the handling side, too sneaky.

Thanks..... I am well prepared to get negative comments on my card handling.... I myself knew that when I viewed the clip.

As mentioned, the purpose of the clip is to find out if the method I used is common.... I did not use the original method taught and modify it a bit to allow spec shuffling... I thought I got a new method :D It seems like this method is common too :P

I heard of loop but still does not fully understand its concept, so I am not sure if I am using that or not..... though it doesn't seem to me that I am using it.

Wish all of you a Happy New Year!!!!

Cheers!

If I not wrong, and my prediction is correct, you are not using the loop. Loops are simply EIT but you dont need to tie them, it comes in loop. LOL!!

And also, its thicker but longer pull.
