If you are into florishes then it's good to have the xtreme beginners. However, I must comment that this DVD is not so much for beginners. I would rate more for intermediate level.

I dont think it only applies for flourishers as i think it is something every aspiring magician/flourisher should own, as for the level of difficulty, all the moves taught in there are VERY clear and detail so i highly recommend it.

Well if you own one, you will know that it teaches flourishes. I do not see any tricks that are taught there. Of course every aspiring magician should try to own one. I do agree that the teachings are detailed and clear and like I say, the level of difficulity is medium to difficult and it is not easy to master all the flourishes there. Unless your skills are of an intermediate level or you simply love flourishes, I would not encourage you to buy it now; maybe much later. You should try other DVDs which teaches you simpler flourish first.
Well, maybe it's easy for you to master all those flourishes there but personally, I find it quite difficult as I only managed to learn some.

Well everything is hard to learn at first, you dont just watch a video and immediately you are able to do the p**s, it all takes time and practise so same thing applies to XB. The fact that u are able to learn a few moves out of it is already worth the price and i still stick to my point that XB is ok for begineers because you do not require any pior(spelling?) knowledge in magic to learn the stuffs taught in there.
silverdream - February 21, 2007 03:58 AM (GMT)
Well, like I said it all depends on what he wants actually... flourishes or to do some magic.... it's his choice.
Have you mastered all the flourishes there? You should show it to me one day man! Maybe you can englighten me on some of the flourishes as I can never seems to do it.

Well if you put effort into learning those flourishes, you will be able to master them.

I think its a very good DVD cause it talks abt very intersting details that actually all people playing with cards should know.
For instance, like how to pick up a bunch of cards if you drop them on the floor.
As for the flourishes, it takes time and losta effort to keep practising and strengthening your fingers and flexibility. I'm in midst of starting out this DVD as well.

Actually the Xtreme Beginner is really made for the beginners, not the intermediate. Get Brian Tudor's Show Off you will know what i mean. You will see what we mean by intermediate and advance level. @_@

Haha yup! It even show you how to take care of your fingers!!
timo - March 14, 2007 04:48 AM (GMT)
I can master most of the flourishes but till this day, i still cant do any of the finger exercises.

If you are still concidering to get the disk or not. Don concider anymore. It is quite an old disk but it really teaches good stuff. Especially if you are planning to get into flourishes. I have got it long time ago but still not regretting it. I can master most of the moves but just that one that q does which is to spread the deck on your arm and throw it up and catch it with the same hand. haha.

Yeps, eXtreme Beginners is a real gem of basic card manipulations moves. I remember learning how to do a charlier from a book. It took me a while to understand the pictures and combine it with the words. However, when i got my XB, the way De'vo teaches it makes it so easy. Dang, should have gotten the dvd first.
But anyway, this dvd is real good. Jerry is quite funny at times and is really detailed in the fanning workshop. De'vo's hands kinda floated around the screen which is quite cool.
The only thing i did not really like about this dvd was daryl's hot shot cut. He explained it rather superficially in my opinion. I only got it down while eating instant noodles and playing with me deck.
p.s. Myojo chicken abalone rocks!! :P

Aaron, you were eating instant noodles and doing the hot shot at the same time!<- You gotta teach me that, lol
Anyway, i dont think its ever too late to get XB, as what many of them have said, it teaches some really solid and good flourishes in there. To me, the fanning workshop by jerry is already worth the price so why still hesitate to buy?

I was surprised by some of the earlier reviews that did not really give thumbs up for Xtreme Beginners.
I would agree that it is a good DVD to invest in. Most of the essential basics are there.
alafista - March 15, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
My only regret was that my hands are not big enough to do a double charlier

haha i was eating with a fork spaghetti-style!! so i could use the other hand to try the hot shot cut. ^_^
anyway yeps, XB is xtremely beautiful* in every aspects of a training dvd.
i think it's the best for basic card manipulation in the market currently!!
p.s. i know beautiful is a strange word but couldn't think of others so yeah.. :P
