The Lost Tapes Volume Two by Earl Nelson - DVD Earl Nelson is widely regarded as one of the most skillful sleight-of-hand performers of this generation. A close friend and student of Dai Vemon, Earl's slow, deliberate handlings and showstopper effects are pure poetry.
In 1984, Earl released four videotapes covering material from his acclaimed book, Variations, his notes, called The Workbook, as well as detailed, thoughtful instruction on several of the most important sleights in card magic. The tapes, shot in the Parlor of The Magic Castle, became instant classics. They were referred to numerous times in Darwin Ortiz' book, The Annotated Erdnase. For many, they are still considered amongst the finest instructional tapes ever produced.
Unfortunately, in 1994, the Northridge earthquake hit Los Angeles, devastating Earl's home. Amongst the missing items—the masters for Earl's acclaimed tapes. Sadly, from that day forward, not a single copy was produced. In the intervening years, Earl's rare videotapes have become highly sought-after underground favorites, selling for a small fortune to those lucky enough to find them.
That is where the story is supposed to end. Except that recently, Earl moved out of California, which required him to excavate and repack dozens of boxes of smashed and long-forgotten magical belongings. They were the last thing Earl expected to find, but there they were, tucked away in the debris—the lost masters. Dusty, the footage a bit darkened by time, but all in all, relatively unscathed. And so it is with great pleasure we are able to bring you the re-release of Earl Nelson's legendary videos.

REVIEW BY NING of THE LITTLE MAGIC SHOPThe Lost Tapes Volume Two by Earl Nelson- DVD Volume 2 of the Lost Tapes focuses not on techniques as in Volume 1 but actually effects. Many are considered neo-classic routines in magic now and are worthy of study and performance. The great thing about Earl’s routines is that they are very pure and utilize only sleight of hand techniques. However, all the moves are only as difficult as needed and are greatly motivated & natural.
Several that I enjoyed include:
$1.50 Vanish is a beautifully structured 3 coin vanish and reappearance under a single playing card. It requires intermediate sleight of hand skill but is a very pure routine.
Haunted Card is a technique that Earl is known for where a card swivels out from the center of the deck as though by a mysterious force. It takes a knack and practise but is an ideal way to produce a card.
Hit & Run Aces – If you are familiar with Derek Dingle’s Roll Over Aces, this is a handling for an Ace production that replicates the Ace production portion of the Roll Over Aces. It is flashy and surprising and is another Ace production you can add to your repertoire.
Triple Spellbound is a multiple-three coin change based on Dai Veron’s classic Spellbound routine. The routine is manageable until the last knuckle busting sequence that will need serious practice. I’m sure there are other methods to accomplish the last change but I’m sure coin enthusiasts will want to take up the challenge and get a personal kick when they master it!
Highly recommended for pure sleight of hand enthusiasts!!!
