Title: Daryl Sato's Magic Products
silverdream - February 21, 2007 08:04 AM (GMT)
Hi guys,
Does anyone know if Daryl Sato's magic effects are good and practical? I have come across this website (www.prodigymagic.com) and his tricks are amazing! I believe its a newly launched website and there are only 5 products so far.
My comments on the preview demo:
Infiltrate - looks similar like Abyss (which I owned one) but this seems to be even better! A signed borrowed quarter is slamed right INTO the plastic bottle. The best part is that the bottle can be examine before and after!
Transference - this is what we want when we performed ACR!! A spectator name ANY card they want. With the snap of your fingers, their card that they FREELY choose of is magically on top of the deck.
Right Thru - similar to coin in soda (which I owned) but no preview demo so I am not sure how good it is. For this, a quarter is slammed into a glass bottle and the spectators can see it HAPPENING!! The quarter, the cap and the bottle is examinable and there is no gimmicks and the coins can be signed (as mentioned).
If any of you have purchased these products, could you write some review on it? Would appreciate your comments and rating on (i) Effect, (ii) Method (iii) Instructions/Teaching (iv) Overall.
If they are cool stuff, I might consider getting them.

Chances are, not many people bought from this particular magician yet.
As much as going around asking for "reviews", the way to purchase a magic effect boils down to a question,
"How am I going to use this effect in my performance?"
If the answer is not even convincing to yourself, don't even consider it.
Please do not purchase effects simply because it looks good, rave reviews, hypes, and of course, impulses.
You will end up wasting your money.
Then you'll hate magic.
Then another heckler is born.
My 2 cents.
PS: I apologise if my post sounds rude, but I have to speak the truth. Many new magicians fall into these "traps" all the time. End up these fed-up and poor people ruin the art.
The Truth Hurts.

Ya agree. Seen those effects and I think its a total rip off from kevin parker's effects, maybe a modification or 2, but the end story is whether you will use it anot.
Another issue is, alot alot of effects are very cool in the video, SEEMS impossible, but when you got your hand on it, you realise that it doesnt suit your environment and yourself, and then you feel rip off.
If its me, I will suggest getting effects from recognized magicians than those suddenly come on the web and set effects. :)

No worry bro. I know what I am doing and what I want that is why I am asking for reviews. I am not a 13 year old kid that is into hype....
Of course the first impression to a trick counts a lot. If by looking at the preview demo and it looks great, the first thing that comes to your mind is that can I do that? How I wish I can performed like him. It's the same as watching david copperfield, david blaine, criss angel, etc performing... how we wish that we can perform like them. If by watching the video it does not even amaze you, how are you going to amaze other people as well.
Magic is my hobby and I consider that it is a kind of being an entertainer.... I like to show people some tricks and get the WOW reactions from them and there is a sense of satisfaction that you have achieved something - making people happy and entertained. I won't even think of "How am I going to use this effect in my performance?" as it can just be a one off performance for a single trick and not a routine. It is not easy to mix and match all tricks to a routine and I have no issue of just performing a single trick one day at a time.
As for rave reviews, well, reviews are a personal opinion to a trick itself. I don't think a person will comment that a product is good if in fact it is bad. If that is so then I guess tough luck!
If I don't request for reviews (not one 1 or 2 reviews), I will be buying on impuse, like you mentioned and wasting money as I don't even know what the heck I am buying. I am sure even if you buy other non-magic products, you do ask your friends on their comments. When I mentioned review, I mean commenting on the method, teaching of DVD (if any), effect on audience based on personal experience, negative comments, etc and not just "yeah effect is good". From there, one can decide if he wants to purchase the products or not.
Anyway thanks for your 2 cents and I can agree that there are many people out there that falls into such a trap.

I totally agree with you larry and that is why I am checking it out and posing it here. Just in case those people who might have been rip off (or maybe not) can share their experience.
You are definetly right that alot of effects are very cool in the video (maybe due to lots of editing), SEEMS impossible, but when you got your hand on it, you realise that it doesnt suit your environment and yourself, and then you feel rip off. That is also the reason why I post this thread to find out if there are any one out there who has purchased from this site or these products and their comments/review on it. If it sucks big time, then I hope they can give an honest review on it.
As I only purchased my products from one and only one recognised dealer, I am not sure if this was another recognised dealer which you guys might have come across and hence the intention of my post again.
cheers
