Video rental
You ask a spectator to name a movie. You ask him to call your DVD rental store and ask which movie you reserved. It will be the movie they chose. No force – No hints - No gimmicks.

Informa-tech
An impromptu tool that enables you, the performer, to secretly transfer information and codes between two people (numbers, letters etc)

Expert deck – impromptu version.
The performer knows the location of a freely chosen card, after the spectator has shuffled the deck.

Stop Smoking
The performer causes a smoker from the audience to be repulsed from smoking on stage.

Envelope Prediction
Performer holds a prediction. He asks a few people in the audience to name numbers. Those numbers are added. The prediction is then opened, to reveal that the total number has been predicted. (No "add a number" gimmicks, no forces, free choice of numbers)

My Precious
Four rings are mixed in a small bags. You then know which ring belongs to which person…and mentally describe in detailed the last ring!

Color Detector
Spectator is asked to freely draw 3 shapes in 3 different colors. You then predict it.

Money-Pulation
Spectator hides a money bill in one of 10 envelopes. You then mentally know which envelope is the one with the money. Great gambling effect.

Switcher
A switching tool that will help you create dozens of ideas and routines.

Serial Contact
The performer predicts a serial number of a borrowed bill from the audience. No switching, the bill is random.

A very clever way to duplicate a picture secretly drawn by a spectator. Perfect for close up!

Animated Magnet
Telekinesis routine. You draw a magnet on your business card or a piece of paper. You then magnetize objects using your animated magnet.

Coinci-Cube
Two Rubik Cubes are mixed by you and a spectator. You then show that both have been mixed in the exact same way. Perfect for Memory test, you become a genius in the audience’s eyes.

Graphology
Spectator writes few names on a piece of paper. You then can define which person he loves, hates, has no relationship with… and also reveal the last name! Perfect for cold reading, graphology test, or mind reading.

REVIEW BY NING of THE LITTLE MAGIC SHOP

Between 2 Minds by Guy Bavli and Haim Goldenberg

VOLUME 1

Most will be familiar with the name Guy Bavli but probably not Haim Goldenberg. The material on this DVD set is primary mentalism creations by Haim. Guy sits in on the explanations for the routines and the featured effects are explained and discussed, interview style.

Guy also gives his thoughts, ideas and suggestions on improving and presenting the routines for alternative perspectives. This is the concept behind the DVD set, hence the title 'Between Two Minds' ;)

5 routines are performed and explained in detail. 3 that I liked include:

Index Picture Duplication – This is a very direct picture duplication effect with just a stack of index cards. No clipboards or wallets are needed. Angles are very good for this effect and can be performed close-up or parlour. A table is preferred due to the natural choreography of moves that a table allows for so for walkaround performers, the handling will need to be modified.

Coinci-cube is a Rubik’s Cube duplication effect that utilizes a bold method that is covered by the presentation of the routine. It is very strong and visual due to the colour squares of the cube. Coincidentally, Irish mentalist Keith Barry (catch his stuff on youtube!) recently performed an almost identical version in his ‘Extraordinary’ US television special.

Graphology is a powerful psychometry routine with a divination kicker ending that uses handwriting analysis as the presentational plot of the routine. Guy offers many good suggestions for stage performs for this routine. Although not credited, the method bears very strong similarities to Larry Becker (one of my fave mentalism gurus)’s Sneak Peak.

In a nutshell... Yes, recommended for magicians looking for solid mentalism routines! B)

VOLUME 2

This volume continues in style and presentation as the first DVD. 6 more routines are taught in this volume. Here's a couple of strong ones I'd like to hightlight :) :

Video Rental is an interesting phone call mentalism effect with a movie title plot. The method is very simple and requires a helper (not at the show but standing by at a phone). Some of you may know that Australian magician Tim Ellis explained an identical method in his Ellis in Wonderland DVD, which was released several years ago.

Stop Smoking is a psuedo-hypnotism demonstration. The plot has been explored by several magicians in recent years; most notably Derren Brown (yes, THE Derren Brown) and Dr. Fabio Tabbo (author of Stop Smoking Mentalism). Haim’s method is simple, surefire and does not rely heavily on suggestion or equivoque. However, while the method does no require suggestion, I think the use of suggestion is important in the presentation for maximum impact. I can see the possibility of having a smoker actually quit smoking if this effect is performed effectively well on him/ her... so this is really something to explore ;)

Envelope Prediction is a very strong prediction effect based on the classic envelope prediction system. Haim’s value of using numbers freely called out by audience members and having them tabulated adds greatly to the openness and deception of the routine. Something to really astonish your audience!

VOLUME 3

In the final instalment of the DVD series, 5 routines are performed and explained. Several were really good, so I thought I'd highlight them:

My Precious is quite like Haim's featured Graphology routine in Vol 1, in that it is a psychometry routine with a divination kicker ending. Haim's unique touch is using multiple bags and borrows rings from ladies. This makes for strong personal connections for the spectators. The title really does make me think of the creepy Gollum from LOTR though *grin*

Colour Detector is a very visual effect as it uses large drawings and coloured markers. It is a clever version of Stephen Tucker’s Visa Cabaret but is completely redressed and with a different method. This is great for the close-up, parlour or stage performer. I'm impressed!

Money-pulation is a cute name and the effect is a Bank Night routine using 10 small envelopes. The method is simple and quite unorthodox when it comes this type of effects. Guy offers many excellent suggestions during the explanation that allows more possibilities for the routine.

I personally prefer the material from the 1st two volumes to this 3rd one but Colour Detector from this volume may be worth the price of the DVD. However, if you are new to mentalism, then I honestly think that all the other routines will also be of value to you.

My take, yes... a worthy investment!,
