Art Of Astonishment by Paul Harris

Paul Harris’s Art of Astonishment 3 Volume Book Set is one of the monumental trilogies in magic literature. This DVD offers a visual look and explanation of a couple of effects from the books ^_^ The great thing about all the effects is that they can all be performed impromptu as long as you have the common items in hand.

The setting of the video shoot is very informal with many scenes having people sitting cross-legged on the carpet floor of a living room. After each effect, different spectators are shown describing and reviewing the effect to the other spectators – like how friends talk about magic effects after a magic show, so that's kinda nice :)

Some highlights include:

Angel Case – This utility allows for a spirit writing effect with an ordinary card box without heavy sleight of hand or switches. It is ideal for mental effects that use cards as props or within a set of routines where you use cards. This is merely to get the card box in play.

Zen & the Art of Boomerang is a cool boomerang card effect where a card is thrown high into the air; whereupon it spins back into the deck, to cut itself into its mate card. Very COOL!

Flesh is a fantastic impromptu magic effect with small pieces of toothpicks and well, two hands. While not a formal presentation piece, it is a great effect to perform at a party of restaurant for friends :P

The Shape of Astonishment s my favourite effect in the DVD. A image of one side of a coin is rubbed onto a piece of aluminum foil to create an imprint. Amazingly the imprint in the foil magically changes to the other side of the coin :lol: Sweeeet!

Recommended especially if you are looking for pieces of 'strange' to create astonishment. A worthy investment!
