joeltay81 - March 1, 2007 10:42 AM (GMT)
Not too bad. Relatively easy to perform with a little practise needed to look realistic. No need for any set up. Impromptu, as long as you can get hold of a coin and can drink. The coin can be signed. Coin can be heard shaking about in the can.

My review of Sinful - Coin in Soda Can by Criss Angel

I have performed it once in front of about 10 to 15 people and the reactions is unbelievable!

The effect
This effect can be performed from a borrowed signed coin and a can of soda or beer from anywhere. Watch the face of the spectators as their signed coin miraculously penetrates their sealed can, which immediately is heard and seen inside the can.

In an instant, you slam the coin into the bottom of the can and showing your empty palm, the coin has vanished. You show all sides and angles of the can to the spectators and show that there are no holes, cracks, or trap doors present. You then shake the can to hear the coin inside of the can. As you 'pop' open the can, fizz erupts and you slowly pour down the soda out.... you begin to ask the spectator to come closer.... as you shake off the last drop of soda, there is a mysterious noise - the noise of the quarter in the can. The can with the signed coin can be immediately pass around for thoroughly inspection and handed back to you. You pulled out a knife and cut opened the can with the quarter falling onto the ground. Chaos!

This effect can be performed anywhere, anytime with no special props, no Gimmicks and no Switches.

The DVD
The video begins with a few presentations of Sinful to set the mood. Without delay Wayne Houchin and Criss Angel meet in a room and sit down as they discuss in details step by step in performing the trick. As you watch the video you feel as if you're sitting right there with them. The instructions are crystal clear and the camera angles are down to absolute perfection. You see it all, and not one move or sleight is gone undiscussed. The quality of the video is superb, and the overall production is fantastic.

The teaching
Wayne Houchin and Criss Angel both explain how they perform the effect, to which types of people they perform, how they begin and end the effect, and a countless number of tips, hints and subtleties to help you make the most of your Sinful performance.
Rate 10/10

The method
The method is absolutely incredible, and when you see it unveiled on the video I guarantee your jaw will drop. Within minutes you'll have a can and a coin in your hand and you will be working on the main penetration. The method/secret is very easy to understand, and can be executed literally within seconds of watching the video. It is not confusing at all.

The reactions
If you're seeking a reputation in school or in your community, Sinful is one trick that will seal that reputation instantaneously. This was my first trick that I performed when I was in Hong Kong and instantly you are being recognised! You'll love the reactions you earn with Sinful.

Overall
Fantastic! You will never regret buying it.
Do take note that do not perform Sinful immediately after watching the video. I recommend recording yourself performing Sinful with your eyes closed. As they say... practice makes perfect. If not, you're not ready to perform.
I hope this review helps.

Sinful is good. You can do it on many occasions and at many places. You don't have to carry any things with you. Neither the coin, nor the soda can. You can borrow the coin from an audience and the soda can, can be purchased on the spot. You need some good practice and you have to look casual and natural doing it. Overall its fine. They can keep the whole thing after the effect. They can even wash the can and keep it. So I recommend getting it.

As of now, I wont recommend getting it. Unless you want to know the principal of the effect. Why? Because it became too popularised that half of the people you met outside will know they see this effect some where. Though the impromtu concept is very strong, but the commercialise of this effect make is a no no to perform now.

Hmm, reminds me of the times i was heckled so badly with this effect.

Just do a search on YouTube and you can find so many videos of 5 year old kids and old grandpas doing the same effect.

Its so good that its so popular, therefore making it too common. Just like the King Rising, non-magic friends can show me how to do it.

I am not sure if that statement is correct - "Because it became too popularised that half of the people you met outside will know they see this effect some where." At least for those people that I have performed to, have not seen it before. Even if many people have seen it before, I believe they would want to see it again. It's like going for a magic show.... many people have seen the common magic like cutting a person into half, disappearing act, ambitiuos card routine, etc... but yet they are still curious and would want to watch it again.
Anyway, I have purchased mine last year...

2 things here:

1. It's not exactly true it can be "any can". Not all cans are made equal, YOu'll know when you try it. There's a thread somewhere I started on this, you can read it up.

2. If the tricks are not popular, the chances are most of us won't even know they exist, let alone get it. Unless we know Steve Fearson, Paul Harris or Jay Sankey personally and they are on sooo good terms with you to teach you some unreleased stuff. So till that happen, we can only settle for commercial stuff, which I think, is not really as widespread as we magicians think. There are still people fooled by 2 Card Monte even if TV has exposed it countless times.
