Mix N' Mingle (2 DVD set) by Shaun McCree

An obvious seasoned professional (watch his fingers do the magic!!!), Shaun has been doing magic professionally for 20 years and this is solid performance tested material that he uses for his work. The routines featured in his DVDs are perfect for cocktail parties, walkaround (street/ close up) and even tradeshows.

This 2 volume DVD set includes mainly performance material with cards and coins. He also includes an original one-handed card flourish called ‘Cold Cut Transpo’ which is pretty nifty! Highlights for me include:

Second Inkstain – This is a practical handling of the romantic classical ‘Anniversary Waltz’ routine that uses regular cards. A signature magically transposes to the back of another signed card in the hands of a spectator. The great thing is that this routine can be performed with NO SET UP at any time so that makes it a perfect follow-up to any signed card routine.

Watched Ambitious – This is a very good motivated handling of an Ambitious Card finale where the selected card appears folded under the magician’s watch. A variant of a Jay Sankey effect, you'll need to be able to Mercury Fold a card but this is a great utility move that all serious cardicians should know! anyways... Shaun also has a great way to use a selected card routine with a child.

The Even More Portable Hole – This is a fantastic version of David Roth’s visual Portable Hole plot. Shaun has brought the traditional table routine to an in-the-hands style routine that can be done standing up in ‘real-world’ conditions. It is essentially a coins across routine with a portable hole (a disc of black felt). In the end, a jumbo coin is dropped out of the hole!

Myopia – This is a very fun jumbo appearance of a playing card that is novel and very commercial. You will need to wear a jacket for this though but it's well worth it.

Imagination – This is billed as the Invisible Deck using a regular deck. However, it should be said that a spectator does not mentally select a card, he peeks at a card as the deck is riffled through. In this version, the card does not appear face down in a face up deck but it magically rises out of the deck folded in quarters. Given the above disclaimer, the effect is IMPRESSIVELY strong and effective! It's truly one of my faves from this 2 DVD set :)

In a nutshell... YES! Recommended for serious working magicians looking for practical, commercial, time-tested routines utilizing handy coins & cards.
