REVIEW BY NING of THE LITTLE MAGIC SHOPCollard by John Archer Collard is Al Koran’s Medallion routine reinvented for the current times. The central prop is a cute stuffed dog with a collar (not provided, get your own) and large circular dog tag (supplied in package). You could use a real dog if you had one… (who is trained to bark/ growl/ bite at hecklers?) :P
This mentalism routine has built in comedy and is fairly easy to perform, although you will need practice to make the moves smooth and natural. The effect is very strong and audiences will swear that you never touched the dog. I really love this one... Highly recommended if you are looking for a funny, cute and unique parlor or stage mentalism routine. Sweet!
Cheers,
Ning ^_^

Does this come with a DVD that explains how to perform the complete routine ? SGD 108.00 for single routine, price is on the higher end

If you want to do John Archer's Collard routine, you have to get his dvd Educating Archer. It's explained in there.
There's no dvd that comes with this product.
I'll recommend that you get Educating Archer first to see the routine proper before you get this. That way, you'll know whether the routine is suitable for you or not.

Sometimes, you have to ask yourself, high price for a good trick? Why not? High price would mean that not many people know about this trick, and therefore not many people are performing this trick. And if that trick is capable of making a difference in your shows, why not?
There are many good old tricks out there which many magicians already know about. And if as an audience, you always see the same thing, it becomes very predictable although they might still not figure out how it's done.
With that said, if you have time and is creative enough, use the old principles and make something totally new out of it, and that's exactly what's been done in Collard.
Cheers,
Shufi

Well Said Shufi, I cannot disgaree with that.
That said, I would expect the DVD of performance to be provided with the package.

Hi guys... sorry couldn't reply sooner, was busy with my shows ^_^ Just in case you're wondering...
Yes. Collard first made its appearance on John Archer's DVD as mentioned :) This set that's featured comes with all the stuff you need for the performances, sans the stuffed toy.
There's no instructional DVD (that would make his 'Educating Archer' DVD kind redundant?) but clearly written instructions are provided along with the decent quality props... Magicians who do family/ kids shows, in particular, would really appreciate this one.
Shufi's right as usual ;) Collard is really Al Koran’s Medallion routine reinvented for the current times. For those who know him or have seen his DVD(s), John Archer's presentation is extremely entertaining & when a performer buys this, s/he gets his take of the concept, presentation ideas & the whole package.
An effect's worth is truly based only on how much you make the best of it, imho  Hope this helps!

So you need to get both this as well as 'Educating Archer'?
Ning - April 30, 2007 04:18 AM (GMT)
Nope, while the DVD has him teach & perform it, the written instructions in Collard is good enough because they are clear & concise :) No reason to get both really. Hope this clears up all the confusion!

LOL.. John Archer is always so funny, the way he manipulate the words and talking with the audience is his selling point man.
Anyway, is it right to assume that this effect is not restricted to dog collar?
If I not wrong, this collar effect is just a general idea of what you can do with that kind of power. Though John Archer's effect is always so expensive, but his effect is always not limited to what he show on them. Not mentioning that they are good, I think for that price, its worth it.
Also. this effect reminds me of someone's effect that everyone is dreaming to know. LOL!!
I will look forward for this effect when the next payroll came in. :)

The collar is included, you could use it for any toy animal or if you're in the mood, a real pet or your girlfriend

LOL!! I wonder which gal will allow me to do that. I can foresee getting smacked, beaten up each time this effect ends. "-.-
