Title: Kem Cards

Hey fellas...

Does anybody have any experience with these plastic, fully washable deck?

http://www.thelittlemagicshop.com/index.ph...products_id=472

1) Do they last as long as imagine them to last ? ....say, at least 2 years?
...with all those sleights and shuffles. (Decent wear rate --> 1 Bike deck a month)

2) Do they handle well? Particularly DL turnover, hindu shuffle, elmsley count.

3) I'm guessing they can't fan/ribbon spread well ---> Am i correct?

I'm really interested in getting one. Was thinking it might be a good long-term investment, instead of having to buy decks again and again.

(Fully aware that there are several things i can do using a regular deck, that i can't do using this one)

Haha, afraid to disappoint you but these decks aint as good as the normal ones, they cant fan spread or even basic sleight of hands will be impossible to do. they do last long as plastic is non-biodegradeable.

sadly for me my decks last me 4 days the most .

Finally i dont recommend you to buy =)

Thanks for the quick reply man.

No I'm not disappointed. In fact, I still have this burning desire to get it...LOL.

I'd like to clarify one thing. You mentioned basic sleightofhand would be impossible. Is that because the cards tend to stick to each other?

sheeke - April 29, 2007 08:46 AM (GMT)
No prob man!

yea the cards are water proof and have no pores thus there will be like a vaccum btw them thus are so called sticky. So to perfrom sleight of hand will be some what impossible =)

So happy that i finally received this deck today!

After hours of flirting with the cards, i decided to give it a bath.
Yes the cards became one thick block, like a brick.

I then lay the wet cards neatly at one area on my floor (carpet) in 4 rows of 13, went for a one hour workout, came back and collected the cards, squared them into mechanics grip and it became good as new.

Wow~!!! After a wash and dry it bacame as good as new?

It sounds good actually. But I actually wonder how many times u can do that before it really wears out. Anyway, how do the cards handle?

I wonder too. But i probably wouldn't wash it any more than 5 times a year. That's just a rough guess.

Cards are impossible to fan, and tough to spread nicely. This is the main problem I face. Hence, the classic f*rc* is not easy to smoothly execute.

Commonly used sleights like DL and Double U*d**cut are pretty easy to execute. I like the feel of the DL!

Cards are easy to spring cos' the cards are very very flexible; feels something like those transparent OHP sheets. I managed to do a decent spring upon removing the new deck from its case, without having to break-in.

However, flexibility is also a bad point, because certain moves (eg. Twirl change) require more sturdy cards in order to work nicely. The card(s) bends too easily when i hold 'it' in the grip for twirl change.

No problems with Hindu and overhand shuffles, both regular and controls.

Riffle shuffles are GREAT, especially when followed by a waterfall. However it takes some effort to square the cards by pushing in the 2 packets, as too much friction exist between the cards.

Also, I signed a card with WHITE BOARD marker and did an ACR. The ink lasted throughout the routine and i managed to erase the signature (tissue paper) without leaving any trace.

I see I see. Thanks dude, for giving a rather detailed review of the cards. Its rather worth it for that kind of price. A pity it has a number of limitations. Considering to get one man. Seems like they have a few back designs. The arrowed one looks cool. What is your back design?

chteo - June 10, 2007 07:12 PM (GMT)
Mine's the Arrow design. Bought it from TheLittleMagicShop. BTW do be aware that the deck may not suit everybody when it comes to card magic. Many people on other forums stay away plastic cards. Then again, if you're curious (like me), just get it. Makes a nice collectible anyway.
