Title: Too High Too Fast
muscleaxl - May 21, 2007 08:25 AM (GMT)
I wonder how many of you ever had this experience...
I love to perform to this girl working in my office, not because she looks cute but more because she is a very good audience.
Anyway, there was this time when I performed Stigmata for her which she was very impressed and of course, i was very proud of it. But the problem came: In her mind, she was always thinking of Stigmata as THE ultimate effect and kept bugging me to do it again. Now, no matter how spectacular my other effects are, it just doesn't excite her anymore!!
Anybody any solutions?
LarryDK - May 21, 2007 08:50 AM (GMT)
Don't do any effects to her anymore. (For the time being) Whenever she ask you to do Stigmata, tell her that its not good for you to do it every time, and its one of the magic that you did to her in the past.
Actually, I also quite lost on any solution for you. How about this? Ask her out, then give her a bouqet of flowers as a surprise, it will be more wonderful than stigimata. :)
Ace - May 21, 2007 09:24 AM (GMT)
Lol! Larry got the perfect solution!!
Hmm, stigmata is a very strong effect and it is quite hard to find routines that are stronger. But still i'm sure you have other effects which are as strong, if not stronger than stigmata.
For example effects like moving pips, sinful, fraud, ACR with sealed box ending, bill to kiwi or spoon bending are some of the effects that could rival stigmata.
Show her that stigmata is not THE ultimate effect. Show her other killer effects. Or you could jus show her your flowers! :P Of cos don't show her all the killer effects in one shot. One such killer effect every month is enough to keep her interested in your magic.
muscleaxl - May 21, 2007 09:48 AM (GMT)
Ha... Ok ok, hold it guys, she's not my girlfriend and neither am I going to make her mine, so I'll drop the flowers first.
And I don't know moving pips, don't know card to box ACR, don't know bill to kiwi.... doing sinful and PK seems like an inappoporiate for a office setting. Unless I "transpo" some fork or beer can from the coffee-shop.
joeltay81 - May 21, 2007 09:55 AM (GMT)
Seems like she likes mentalism effects. See if other mentalism effects impress her too. Collard is a cute and girly effect to do.
Ace - May 21, 2007 11:23 AM (GMT)
Hmm...for mentalism effects you can try swammi effects or invisible deck? Or maybe some cool looking bill change or fraud? Coin bite? Or move the pen with your mind? Not sure if these effects can impress her more than stigmata.
muscleaxl - May 21, 2007 12:02 PM (GMT)
Yeah.. I've showed the ID just now and she was like: "wow... not bad... BUT I'm still wondering how you get that name on to your hand?"
Guess I have to levitate myself to the 19th floor or walking through the wall of my office to impress her again.

Don't bluff.... ;)
mattlee - May 22, 2007 04:32 AM (GMT)
I have this exact same problem.
I decided to stop performing to her as I realised that its not the effect anymore - its the frequency of the performance that somehow makes it.. cheap.
In the spec's mind, nothing you ever do will compare to the first time they saw a minor miracle happen in your hands. Doing anymore will kinda spoil that.
My 2c.
muscleaxl - May 22, 2007 07:18 AM (GMT)
Ha... Ok, I mean I love performing for her not JUST because she looks cute.
Yup, I decided to stop performing for her... for a while. Make her beg me for it, if it ever happens.
iNvIsIbLe - May 22, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Haha....muscleaxl, didn't know that Stigmata effect can be so strong to this cute girl and can keep her begging you to perform this trick again. Maybe you need to learn high levitation to give her a shock!! Haha....jokes aside ya.
Throughout my previous magic performances, I have found that most female audience like mentalism tricks. Maybe it is just my opinion ya. The best is to know what she is thinking of...eg: words, card, person's name etc. You can also try floating paper rose to impress her too or something which is visual and good enough for a killer effect. :D
Xproject - May 22, 2007 11:28 AM (GMT)
The truth is all gals love mentalism effect especially effect that that tell them about themselve example cold reading, palm reading. This is due to it connect them on a more deeper level and gals love to know more about themself, compare to guys (us) are more on the visual side
Broderick - May 22, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
Just tell her doing too much stigmata will hurt your body and shorten your life span.It kill brain cells also. She wun want you to get hurt right?
muscleaxl - May 23, 2007 09:35 AM (GMT)
Hey no kidding, I told her the reason I can't repeat Stigmata was because it will sap much of my energy and I have to recuperate for some time before doing it again.
She actually believe it (or looked convinced)
Ace - May 23, 2007 09:38 AM (GMT)
LOL!!!
Broderick you are the genius man!! I don't know that the solution can be so simple lol!

Oh my god! She really believes it?? Poor little cute girl...sign.. haha.
muscleaxl - May 23, 2007 01:35 PM (GMT)
How come I sense you all are going to have see me from a very negative perspective... just because I happen to mention she is cute?
joeltay81 - May 23, 2007 01:55 PM (GMT)
All jealous. Muahaha. :off:
But yea. Since she likes stigmata, mentalism or bizzare effects will probably be a wise area to look into - especially if she buys into the idea that you cannot perform stigmata too often.

Ya I agree with that. You can try other mentalism effects too. Maybe she will be more interested into other strong effects? :D
sean - May 24, 2007 07:28 PM (GMT)
Hi muscleaxl,
i understand your position (not the cute girl part, the asked to do again part. you lucky guy you )
For me, stigmata gets me the 'do it again', 'you are possessed', 'WTF did you do to yourself, sean!' types of reactions. It's that strong!
Wah so good got a good spec in the form of a cute girl. Keep it up! *salute*
joeltay81 - May 25, 2007 01:20 AM (GMT)
Next time... when doing the stigmata on her request, make the name appear on your arm in a big heart. Haha. :)
csjoshi - July 15, 2007 12:43 AM (GMT)
hey.
Did you see the Butterfly effect in Guerilla Guide? I think that would be really sweet. Its one of those harry-potter kind of effects where you can "breathe life" into an inanimate object.

has anyone seen Ladybug ?
now i think that effect can easily rival and beat stigmata !
also liquid metal if u let her "do " most of the bending herself
and coin bends in her hands as jay sankey suggested.
but what Xproject said is 100% spot on. i have a friend whose a dating instructor and he can attest to that.
go swammi predictions too. i've seen him use it devasting effect.
mind/cold/palm reading and mentalism stuff hits chicks harder than magic. and esp if u can read her character and tell her things about herself .

I haven't seen the effect before.. But I read about it and i don't think there will be many performing it in Sg. Its not that easy to get any butterflies/ladybugs etc in sg.. It'd be quite a headache to try to find those unless you have a ready supply.

:off:
A "Dating Instructor"?
There's such a thing?
rolandlim - July 16, 2007 06:45 AM (GMT)
yes.
it's like dating agencies but very * underground * hate to use that word
but yea , essentially they observe ur posture / character / and ur flaws and then they teach tips on how to open up urself and learn to understand how the female mind works.
i just hang around with him cos they give their practical lessons at pubs and they get free entry to lotsa places and i just tag along performing magic instead lol

You can always do another variation of Stigmata next time.
Perhaps move into version 2?
or do an ash variation.
I think Stigmata is very strong and visual.
The only thing I do to future exceed that...
Is to make everything else around her freaking representing the card or name she thought of.
Example:
Stigmata version 1 alternate ending (need level 99 and complete all sidequest)
After the revelation, explain that its not just the number 3 (for example purpose) that appears on your arm.
Everything around her changed along with the number.
Your deck of cards has the number 3 printed on the bicycle word, on the sides on it...
your entire deck of cards becomes the 3 of spades.
The number of pens are multiples of 3.
The clock shows 3.03pm.
There are 3 people in the office wearing the same shirt.
The date is 12th where 1 + 2 = 3.
Her name with the intergers added up become 3 or a multiple of 3.
I've done half of what I've mentioned above before after watching the movie "The Number 23"
I remembered she couldn't finish her sandwich with was 3 layers of bread.
