Description: Do give us your feedback! :D

*** Dry_gin's original Post ***
HI PEEPS!
It was indeed a very good and memorable Newbie meet-up the last time! NOW, we are pleased to inform you that if happen to miss the previous one, DUN DREAD, cause THEM (Totally Helpful Enthusiastic Moderators or Totally Hidden Extreme Moderators - Many thanks to Adrian) would be organising another Newbie Meet-up!
Date: 26th May 2007 (Saturday)
Time: 2pm till LATE
Place: Toa Payoh DELIFRANCE (Next to Toa Payoh Library)
Once again, as a gentle reminder, this Newbie Meet-up is conducted just so that "new" memebers to the forum can sit down and meet other magicians (New, old, and experience) magicians as well as some of the moderators . SKILL Factor is TOTALLY NOT an issue! (Cos I am still learning too! HAHAHA)
*****************************
This is one big event... It's truly heartening to see so many of you willing to come! :P
Those coming remember - it's this Saturday!
The Delifrance at the Toa Payoh Library has an outdoor air-conditioned corridor which we usually gather. The management is very kind and tolerant to let us discuss magic and session there. It would be nice if you could at least order a drink when you get there; it's the least you could do really, considering the sheer numbers this time.
If you have trouble finding the place, do give either dry_gin or myself a call.
dry_gin : 96927119
Shade: 94314170
Catch you guys there this weekend!

Isit the Toa Payoh Comm Library? Near to the Mrt station right?
dry_gin - May 26, 2007 03:12 AM (GMT)
It is next to the Toa Payoh Library. However, i guess it is not really near the MRT. but Definitely still within walking distance.

Cheers guys.
As usual, I am bogged down by work. Only managed to pop down for awhile with my friend. Then went back to continue work again. Sadly.
It was great thou, at least got more faces to put to those nicks.
Thanks to Pam for yet again, wooing the crowd with his "mental prowess".
And rats.. Never get to see the cups and ball! Argh.
Till next time peeps.
sean - May 26, 2007 04:11 PM (GMT)
Hi all,
Thanks for organizing this meet up. Appreciated the efforts of Shade, Uncle Bob, Pam, drygin + all the cool folks here who physically show up and make it happen.
Can't wait for the next one.
Itachi - May 26, 2007 04:50 PM (GMT)

Ohhh... so you're that guy who tried linking the spinning ring...~!!! Nice try though~!!! ;)
And yeah, as this was my first time in an SMC gathering, i really felt a little out of place at first, with no one to relate to... But i would really like to thank shade for his hospitality. Appreciated... Also, the friends i made today like sean, invisible and a few others... I'm so sorry, i totally su*k at remembering names.
Anyway, it was a great pleasure, to watch Pambudi and his cute little 4 yr old daughter nadia perform for us today.. Uncle bob as well, for graciously performing professor's revenge for us today. And the 4 guys (sry didn't get your names), Itachi, being one of them for performing the linking rings.
All in all, a good experience. Will be looking foward to the next gathering...
iNvIsIbLe - May 27, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
Hi peeps, I had a great fun yesterday! Well, I could get to know some new
faces in the SMC. Thanks to Mr Pambudi and his cute little daughter nadia for performing the water trick and other mentalism effects. As usual, Uncle bob had performed his killer routine "the professor's revenge and it was amazing.
During the meet up, I managed to know some new friends like Sean, Red_Deck etc. Hope to see you guys again for the next meeting ya. Oh ya...yesterday the clip that Zian filmed at Adrian, I want to see that on youtube man...Thats really lame....Haha. :D
As for dry_gin, I remembered when Sheeke performed one of the ACR routine to you and you opened up the top card. I was like what the........ You are the outstanding spectator man!!! Hahaha....
Lastly, thanks for all the moderators who organised this gathering and hope to look forward for the next one ya.
Shade - May 27, 2007 02:46 AM (GMT)
The turnout for this gathering was great! A big load of thanks to everyone who made the effort in showing up - you guys made it a huge success!
Zian brought his camera this time after the griping about the lack of photos. Actually, I brought my own camera to record the proceedings - I figured that it'll appease the "HEAD GIVER" Zian. But I forgot the most important thing - the battery. LOL.
The purpose of any gathering like that is to get to know more people so that you can put a face to the names on the forum. I'm glad that more people are showing up and coming out to meet up with us! I'm sure everybody benefitted from the mingling.
Special mention to our friends from KL - Sheng Yuen, Sheng Hou and Sheng Liang (brothers all) who had the courage to come in to their first gathering! I hope you guys made lots of friends and had lots of fun!
Anyway, with introductions out of the way, the show began! Pambudi put up a spectacular (and totally MENTAL) show for everyone who showed. I thought young Nadia stole the show though - she had a smile that could melt hearts (sorry Pam... you're just not adorable enough).
It was followed by Incarneto (Paul) with a great linking rings act. It was funny when he passed two rings to Jonathan and asked him to try to unlink them. Then Jonathan presented his 'short' linking rings routine. He turned the tables on Paul and the roles were reversed, making for a truly humourous situation - you just had to have been there!
Our very own Lame Adrian (Not LamaDude Adrian, but AdrianLee) performed a very nice 2 ring 'quickie', emphasising how 'short' it was. Then Justin (Itachi) performed his very long 'short' two ring link. It was really good to see so many new people performing!
Uncle Bob amazed all with his Professor's Revenge as always. Ryan (Eric's son) was rapt in wide-eyed amazement as Bob turned 3 ropes into a magical mystery.
Then the sessioning began - Eric, at his first gathering, was sharing his experience (20 years!); Adam showed off his prowess with the pasteboards and his digital dexterity; Janssen (zomaziz) and his friends Zhi Quan and Jazz (both new at SMC) were really jamming - Janssen was a real hit with his 'sven-Normal' deck! And Ling was... well - Ling.
I would like to extend thanks to the following people who really helped make everything work!
Gordon (dry_gin): none of this could have happened without him. He's the most happening fella around with a deck of cards, a coin or even a plain old shoe. He just has to make up his mind if he wants to be a magician or a comedian or a shoemaker.
Adrian (AdrianLee): Your unconditional support and help has been so valuable to us!
Zian (Chanzian): Your disappearing Cigarette act last night was amazing! LOL
Uncle Bob: As always, your generousity speaks for you. Thanks for being around!
Pambudi: Thanks for the great act; all the best at Beijing. 'Jiang Hua Yu'
Timothy and Sufi: Thanks for showing. Your support and loyalty makes me really proud to be a part of your lives. :)

Thanks to Shade and Gordon for organising this meeting. I had a great time, if not because of a dinner appointment that day, I would have stayed till midnight. Everyone was so nice and friendly. Special thanks to Uncle Bob for twisting a balloon for my son. He later told me that he enjoyed Uncle Bob's Professor's Revenge most. Also thanks very much to Mr. Pambudi for performing a beautiful 2 coins routine specially to my son, it was really our pleasure to witness it.
Sorry that I can't remember names well, that boy who's wearing a white JC uniform has really caught my attention. For such a young age, his skill is superb and I am sure he can go really far in magic.
Itachi, don't feel embarrass, it was your courage to try such difficult move that impressed us.
Once again, thanks Shade, I really enjoyed the moment that we chatted about our family and our work.
Ok, is back to my work again but already looking forward to the next one… take care.
dry_gin - May 28, 2007 01:06 AM (GMT)
HI Guys!
SHADE has most probably mention almost every single detail that need to be mentioned!
I will simple just add that it was indeed and truly a wonderful event! Most importantly, it would never have worked out if not for all of the people that took the time and effort to come by!
Now, all we can do is to check out the pictures and videos, (ZIAN!!!!!) and remember and enjoy the fun that we had. while the peeps that did not make it down, ermz... you guys just got to imagine! haha!
Thank you all, once again, and we hope to see you at the next SMC gathering!
Gordon dry_gin
P.S. Big THANK YOU shoutout to SHADE! Thanks a million for everything!
muscleaxl - May 28, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
Eh.. I'm one of those who didn't turn out (in the afternoon). Guess you all had much fun, w/o me!!! Yes, it's my loss... I shall find a place to lament about it till the next one.... *sob sob* (by the way, sob is the sound of cying, not some abbreviaton of a expletive..)
Anyway, too bad you all didn't get to see my one of those "baffles many magicians" trick.
But luckily, I have Jerome for company...
bmt - May 28, 2007 12:00 PM (GMT)
I am sooo sorry i couldn't make it... i couldn't get out of a camp that i was heavily involved in... i really wish i could have been there... i promise the next one will be a 'cannot miss' for me..
mattlee - May 29, 2007 03:17 AM (GMT)
Although I was there for barely an hour, I had a great time. I only regret that I didn't get to meet as many of you as I wanted to.
The best part of the gathering was meeting Uncle Bob for the first time. He's a fantastic performer, and always willing to lend a helping hand.
When's the next one?
=)
chanzian - May 29, 2007 07:59 AM (GMT)
It sure seems everyone who went loved it. I surely did myself. For those who missed it, don't worry. Our meeting organisers have proposed to have such meetings once a month. So do look forward to it.
Anyway i will upload the pictures soon. I was hoping to post it in the official SMC website but i do not have access to that so i will post them in a online photo album and put the link here. Please wait for it. There will also be a video that i will post on youtube so wait for that too. But it's not a magic video. Right now i cannot disclose the content of the video. It shall be a surprise.

Jon - May 30, 2007 11:36 AM (GMT)

Sylar - June 5, 2007 09:09 AM (GMT)
My first login and post in this forum!
Itachi, its my brother's deck. In case if you're wondering, he magically transported his deck into your pocket! LOL. Well,we're the ones who met you at golden landmark a day after the gathering, but I lost one of my handphone recently (with your number in it). Anyway, can you hold on to the deck for a while until the next time we meet up? Thanks.
I want to thank the organisers for allowing us (me and my bros) to join the gathering without an SMC account (I got one now!). Thanks to Broderick too for helping us deal with the extreme moderators, getting their permission to let us through..haha!
As a newbie to magic and SMC, I'll say that the gathering was GREAT, got to see alot of SUPER stuffs. I hope I can be as good as them one day.. ^_^ Looking forward to the next gathering..OR jamming!
By the way, I got some videos of some of the performances. YEP, Incarneto, I have your linking rings video already-up on YOUTUBE; also Jonathan's! The videos are Private and I placed them in a Private group of mine, so you guys can view the videos with ease of mind. However, you'll have to let me know your youtube's account so that I can invite you to the group. I have some other videos in hand (Pam and his cute daughter performances) too, I'll post them ASAP.. :g:
