The Singapore Arts Festival 2007 kicked off on the 25th May. A Family Fun event was held at the HDB Hub (Toa Payoh) - just one of the many events promoting the Arts scene here in Singapore. There was song, dance and many other activities amidst the hustle and bustle of the HDB Hub Mall. Some of our SMC members were there to add to the festivities. :)

Day 1 -
Enrico, Kendrick, Sufi and myself braved the sweltering heat (it was really - and I mean REALLY - hot) and the crowds to bring some entertainment to the masses - strolling style. It was fun - the audience was primed and it was not hard to entertain them.

Enrico thrilled many a kid with his rope routine and blew Suneeta (one of the organisers) out of her mind with his coins across!

Kenny and Sufi certainly had an interesting time working the crowd! Though they had a slow start, they were soon delighting the crowd with the riffle of their cards and the snap of their deals.

Day 2 -
Fei and Adrian took to the field on the second day. It was Adrian's first time out as a solo performer; that probably explained why he turned up without socks. He also came in a "NO POOP" T shirt. I thought it was pretty cool, but convinced him to purchase a T shirt from Giodano. He bought a snazzy white shirt instead that really excited Fei (for some reason).

The weather was cruel - jackets on, we cut through the heat waves with nothing more than the delight registering on the faces of the children we entertained. SIGH - entertainment was hard business. I believe we all learnt a lot from Day 2- Adrian figured he needs more than 3 effects or he'll run out when kids start asking for more. LOL - he nearly lost it and dubbed himself the 'Magic Vending Machine'.

Day 3 -
The final day dawned well for us when Fei arrived on time (QUICK - Buy LOTTERY!). With a load of support - full force in fact - I didn't have to work at all today! Kendrick, Sufi, Adrian and Fei were ready to rock when we arrived at the HUB.

Enrico brought a friend along - Aaron from IBM. With such an ensemble, Enrico and I slacked while the rest of them worked their nuts off. :P

Aaron did a smashing job of rounding up the kids and rounding up the applause at the second session. He was truly in his element - the parents and kids all warmed up to him well!

After thoughts
It's been a great run out for all of us. I think these events help us to battle test our routines and our nerves. I still believe that performances can only be honed through performances. Thanks to all the guys who came by to lend their support and help!

Kendrick - I know it's your O Levels buddy; thanks for taking the time out to make this event special. You're always such a gem!

Sufi - it's amazing how far you've come in the short time I've known you. I appreciate how you're always there when I call.

Fei - hey, what can I say? You're the best man! Just try not to touch Adrian so much yah? (Just kidding)

Adrian - You give friendship its meaning. Thanks for being there bro.

Enrico - This was not possible without you man! Keep those pecs pumping!

Aaron - It's been great meeting you! Hope to catch you at the next gathering!

Argh! I am so sorry that I had to give it a miss! My apologises to Shade and the rest of the team for not able to join you guys on Sunday! However, I honestly dun remember Shade informing me abt the gig till Friday!! hahaha!

Zian, honestly, though it is hot out there, I guess the coats and tie is for the sake of formality. You wouldn't like it if some guy in singlet and shorts came up to you and say, "Excuse me, you wanna see a trick?"

Wa... I thought you only needed 1 magician there. How come a bunch of you was there? Never jio me, I could have went down as a confederate, if ever you all need somebody to pull out a card from the shoe.... or maybe do a Derren Brown mental effect.

Oh man... I can't believe I missed this because of my exams. How I wished I was there to amaze the croed with you guys. Hope there'll be another chance next time.

Thanks for the pics and videos Shade. You guys looked like you had a great time despite the blistering heat. I guess the reactions from the audiences sizzle off all the heat and made the entire event all worth while. Kudos to you all in promoting the art of magic. ^_^

Anyway, I just want to say I want to be involved in the next whatever performance you all might have!!! Looked so fun.

Wasn't that confident doing this when Shade told me about it but I think after some practice around my office, I think I should give myself a chance next time.

Sentosa? Sounds good. We can perform to the bikini babes there. Or is Ning coming along with her bikini? So we will have a bikini magic babe.

Wah...I missed that too....never jiu me also..haha..Wow, it looks very fun ya performing to people. CAFE Del Mar is a nice place too. I went there once and i feel that the environment is not bad. There are also beds inside the bar too. The best is there is a swimming pool just in front of the bar too. Very relaxing...:D
