CCF's Hair for Hope event is back! ^_^ We had fun last year, you've read about it and seen the photos... now be a part of it! *grin*

I'm looking for close up magicians who'd like to volunteer their talents for the general crowd on 1 July @ Velocity, Novena Sq from 3 - 6pm. Rest assured you'll receive an official certificate from CCF for your efforts :lol:

Good news... timing has been changed to 2 - 5pm! So those going for the SAM show will have more than enough time to get there (and grab dinner), since the show starts at 7.30pm!

Anyone up for this 3 hour duration of walk around magic? They already have a clown and balloonist, so CCF just needs close up magicians to mingle with the general crowd.

It's pretty small scale this year, so I'm looking for not more than 3 magicians really :) Please post accordingly if you can confirm your participation.

Noob Magic and I volunteer for event.

this is a good chance for starters. Serious!! I think most of us start by this event also.

Anyway, since they need only 3. I put myself as a reserve. :) I will still go down, see see look look and do something for the crowd.

I feel that these things, if you honestly wanna volunteer, you should really mean it. I'm a bit disappointed by insincere people who just want CCA points and they sign up for the event but don't do a good job (not talking about skills here, but effort really) or worse, skive/ disappear and think the organizers don't notice and yet, expect some sort of acknowledgment or given credit :(

Anyways! We've got 2-and-a-half volunteers... anyone else up for this? I'll get in touch with those who are interested to join... if there's enough people, I can break things up so you work shorter hours - but of course, you can stay for longer if you so wish, which is usually the case for our partnerships with CCF! :lol:

Well, CCF did mention they wanted 2 - 3 magicians (at any one time) so as I just mentioned... if we have enough people volunteering, I can workout a timetable of sorts again so it's less siong for the close up magicians ^_^

For instance, if 6 or 9 people sign up, everyone can do just an hour at least, instead of working continuously for 3 hours.

I'd like to inform CCF on this coming Monday tho, so those interested please give a holler in this thread by midnight of this coming Sunday, 17 Jul!

I got a few PMs from people and well, I'd like to clarify that you don't have to be a skilled professional to do this :) Of course you mustn't be sloppy but if you've been in magic for a bit and only have performed for friends and family this is a great avenue for you to do some real show work!

As long as you have 3 sets of 3, that'd be more than good enough! ^_^

Ning, I think it'll be a good idea to split us into 3 shifts. 3 performers doing 1 hour each. Otherwise all 9 out at the same time will be a bit overkill. Considering that this year the event is on a smaller scale.

SAM show is at 7.30pm and the last CCF shift ends at 5pm. Initially it was 6pm, but because of the SAM show, I shifted it up to an hour earlier so there's more than enough time to head over to the venue ^_^

2.5 hours should be more than enough to head over to Cityhall from Novena, and yet have dinner bah? :P However, if you're uncomfortable, you can feel free to swap with anyone accordingly... and just post here once that's confirmed lah.

PS: Jerome, Axl - I have to entertain an overseas client flying in, in the early afternoon and may only be able to reach Novena around the time the 2nd shift starts... can you 2 mods (laojiaos!) please help to look out for the guys just in case I'm held up? Good question Jon! ^_^ This isn't a formal event so smart casual is good, everyone can use safe logic so basically...

No sloppy attires like berms/ shorts, slippers, t-shirts with vulgarities or offensive pictures :o

Yes to jeans, a clean polo tee, short sleeve shirt, or anything presentable to perform close up magic in :)

There have been performers who work out of a bag (yours truly), some bring a table (uncle bob) , several used jackets (shade) and most who just used their pockets to the fullest extent (aloy and his sponge bunny rabbits) :lol:

My advise will be, wear something that makes you outstanding, something that people can different you out from others, not the normal teenage that was doing some magic.

Make yourself smart looking, polite and approachable. Sloppy wears only make people having negative feelings about you. Be loud in your words, straight forward and you be fine along the way.

Ask the organizer about their schedule, when will be their speech etc. It allows you to know when you can rest, when you can pull the crowd and work towards the time frame, you wont want to stop your effect half way through because someone is speaking on the stage. :)

Sorry Ning for the late reply. No Worries Babe ^_^ , Magician baffler Axl and I will handle the co-ordination with the organisers. Appreciate if you could help me on the following:

(1) May I know who is the CCF representative to look for when we're there? I believe there would be some briefing by him/her and we would have to collect our own little collection box :)

(2) Is it possible to obtain a programme schedule for the day so that we can roughly know what to expect. This would help in the performers to roughly know when they should finish their routine so as not to interfere with what’s happening on stage. (Thanks Larry for highlighting this)

(3) I understand its going to be held at Velocity of Novena Square, so is it going to be indoors of Novena Sq or outdoors?

Just a note to all performers. SMC is 1 of the 2 official entertainment sponsors for this event. What we do represents and reflects upon SMC. Hence, I highly recommend that we all dress in a Smart Casual attire. Jeans/Pants with a collared top (Polo-T is fine). May I suggest a common color so as its easy to identify. I would suggest BLACK as this is a common color that we should all have.

Our image is very important as it would indirectly influence our audiences and the more presentable we are, the more likely they would stay and watch what we can present. Rememeber guys, we'll all be ambassadors of SMC so lets do us proud and go all out and have all the fun we can have in entertaining our audiences. I'm so looking forward to this with both nervousness and excitement… :D

PS: Performers of the 2nd and 3rd shift, look around the event area for either me or Axl when you've arrived. We'll be wearng our Black SMC Polo-Tee. There is a big writing on the back saying "How Did I Do What?" so you should'nt miss us. In case of emergencies, you can reach me at 9788-2598 or Axl at 9876-2014.
