Title: Magician's Must-watch
Aloy - June 15, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
We tend to be a curious and adventurous lot, us magicians, usually attracted to the dangerous and the logic defying.
From making our fire gimmicks with aerosol sprays to setting body parts on fire to performing effects which makes us looks like we have a death wish.
Often we feel a false sense of safety because of our "secret". We feel that cos we know something the audience doesn't that makes i a lot safer than it looks. Which is usually true.
But CARE and CAUTION, ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls. CARE and CAUTION and not be over confident.
Here's something ALL of us can learn something from.
A must watch.

OMG~! That was quite scary seriously. Especially the second performance. It wouldn't have been so bad if the magician just hurt himself. I mean, yes, its really bad for this sort of a magic trick to go wrong, but at least if he just hurt himself, he has no one to account for other than himself. Hurting the audience brings the whole game to a new level.
I personally wouldn't even think of putting an audience's safety on the line for any trick that involves even a tiny little bit of danger. For if it goes wrong, firstly, its extremely embarrassing, secondly, your reputation will be tarnished, thirdly and most importantly, how are you going to account to your audience, finally, at least show some remorse and sincerity by making an official apology.

I didn't want to watch the rest of the clip, but I read what happened to that pitiful magician. . Afraid of what I might see next in the video. Is it graphic? That's one reason why I am not going to perform this trick.

OUCH! I couldn't bear to watch on... i would presume the volunteer's hand would get hit?

Actually i thinking about doing this routine and using audience hand as it add on the excitement but after watching this video, i will consider again. I thought if you know the secret to perform this trick you 100 percent get it right? There is still chance of getting it wrong??

This trick is supposed to be 100% accurate, but the fact that accidents do happen prove it to be otherwise. You'll never know what hecklers might come up with.

Did you guys see how the nail got NAILED into the magician's hand in the 1st portion and he had to PULL IT OUT?
That has GOTTA hurt.

I guess despite such tricks being 100% accurate, there would still be times where tricks goes wrong. I wonder if its lack of attention, lack of practice or just plain bad luck.

I seen this clip before, thought of attaching it but Aloy did it anyway.
For the first act, the blood actually spills onto the gal's face while the magician is shaking his hand, the good part is, he is is blindfolded, he dun see the pain, but i think he might faint when he was unfolded.
As for the last one, I think he was over confident. Seriously never use audience as bait to excitment. For this kind of dangerous act, it will require the use of stooges, because they are well prepared for any magic accidents, but of course, its not a excuse for accidents to happen also.
