Legerdemain : A Contest of Magic
Rules and Regulations
The minimum age of eligibility for this contest is 13. You must be 13 as of the year 2007 in order to participate. Parental consent is compulsory for any participant whose age is 16 years and below as of year 2007.
This Competition is open to the general public.
The Competition is for a Close Up or Parlour magic act.
ALL contestants are required to go through an audition. The audition act should be a single effect not exceeding 3 minutes. Contestants are advised to choose their strongest effect.
If the planned final Competition Act has both silent routines and pattering routines, the contestant must audition with the pattering routine.
The Audition Act has to be a pattering act unless the final Competition Act is a full silent act.
An audition schedule will be posted by the 4th August 2007 and emailed to the contestants.
10 finalists will be short-listed from the audition. 2 complimentary Premium Tickets will be given to each finalist. All rejected contestant will also receive a complimentary ticket to the finals.
Finalists has to pay an additional $10 Contest Fee.
Finalists will be informed by email. The list of finalists will also be announced.
Competition Finals will be held at Ulu Pandan Community Club Theatrette (very near Buona Vista MRT) on the 22nd of September, 5:30pm to 8pm.
All Finalists are to prepare a complete Competition Act between 5 and 8 minutes in length. Failure to comply with the time limit will incur penalties to the score.
Finalists must include their Audition Act in their Competition Act.
Finalists must provide a description of their Competition Act and/or any music to the Organisers 1 week after they are selected.
No stooges – audience volunteers will be provided if you need them. Inform the organizers in advance during the finals of how many audience members you need to help you with your act. It will be arranged for you.
No fire effects of any kind. No confetti.
Smoke effects - Smoke effects or gimmicks are allowed only if it is not ignition based (i.e. no heat involved).
