hey Aloy.
I was wondering whether performing a close up act in an auditorium would in anyway affect the impact of the effect and thus be penalised in terms of points. Furthermore I know it sounds a bit funny but can I get an off pass from the army for the audition & finals if neccessary?
thanks

A camera will be filming you from a parlour distance and be feeding it onto the screen onstage as said.
I assume that your question about the off-pass is not asking me for an off-pass but whether we can facilitate one for you.
If you are in the finals, I will provide you with a letter confirming your eligibility in the finals if you need one. But the rest is up to your direct superior officer of course.
For the auditions, you will have to make your own necessary arrangements to be available.
Both the auditions and finals will be on weekends so unless you have high inclination to be in-camp on weekends, else it shouldn't be too much of a concern if you can book out.

Yes. We have arranged enough time for a full rehearsal earlier on the same day for finalists.

can people/judges see a regular casino dice? or for that matter, american halves?? or is this too small?
Magicdow - July 23, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
If you're doing close up, we have a broadcast quality camera filming and projecting on the screen. So its not going to be a problem.

My act consist of 3 minutes silent act and 3minutes closeup act with patter.
I will be moving alot on stage while doing my productions and all for my opener. I will then go into my closeup act which is to be done on my own table. So, am i right to say that the camera will only capture my closeup act? My opening silent act will be watched as if it's a stage act?
Magicdow - July 23, 2007 11:56 PM (GMT)
The camera will be filming even for parlour acts. It has the capability to zoom in for close up act as well.

hi there
just wondering when will the audiition time slots actually be out, since the venue has already been confirmed?
thanks
Shade - August 2, 2007 03:26 PM (GMT)
Contestants will be informed of the audition schedule via SMS AND email by next week latest. We will not be posting the list on the forum. But a list of finalists will be posted after the auditions.
Contestants are also encouraged to perform their STRONGEST effect in their act for the audition; don't gamble with your chances to make the finals. To ensure fairness and privacy, each contestant can rest assured that they will only be performing for the judges and nobody else can see their act.

Hi, just wondering, Will the judges be the same both for auditions and finals?
And one more thing, if I feel that my strongest effect is my silent act, am I still required to do my act with patter for auditions?
Shade - August 3, 2007 01:20 AM (GMT)
There will be 3 judges in the auditions. One of whom MIGHT be at the finals. This is yet to be confirmed since some of our judges are professionals.
BUT - there will be SIX - I repeat: SIX - judges at the finals. This is to ensure that our contestants get the fairest possible judging and there is no biased-ness against any one type of act.

This has already been clearly stated in the rules. Your audition act MUST be a part of your final act. AND - you are required to perform a pattering act for the audtion UNLESS your ENTIRE act is silent.

There'll be mods around. You can use them if you need to.
