Great to see a lot of familiar faces at the show. Hope all of you have enjoyed the show put up by the 9 performers. Feel free to leave your comments over here or any improvements you think can make the event good or even better. :P

I think the event was very well put up. The sound system was good, the lighting's were good.

Some of the performance was great and some were not so.

I'll talk about he MC first. Andrew Kong don't look that good MCing a show while pacing around the stage and holding a piece of paper and reading from it. This shows that he has not really that prepared for the show. Alex was different, his diction was clearer, remembers everything without having a piece of paper to help and he is funny.

Joe Yu is as usual good in his stuff and full of pyros and confetti.

Alex's mask changing is very nice.

Charles Choo, what can I say? Well, first of all, he really needs to clean his props. You can tell that his flowers were very old. Whenever he pull a bunch out, you can see the dust in the air. He's always smelling the flowers after each production, at this era, everyone knows that the flowers are not real.

Kyle Ravin's act is good but he needs to work out more. You can see and here him panting after some dancing. Also, the dancer need to improve. She looks weird crawling around the stage, looks more like a kinky act than magical act.

Mystifying Imran, good dance choreography, nice costume. Gotta grip harder on the streamers though.

Andrew Kong, used expensive stuff but performed poorly. Smile looks so fake. The string on the hankie can be seen hanging from the bottle to your "gimmick". The angles were bad, can see the dancing hank's gimmick all the time. The cloth used to cover the gimmick is too thin, can see the gimmick thru it.

Kiki Tay's act was short and funny, I was actually hoping to see more.

Tito's act is simple and funny, maybe he has charisma. I think he's one of the best for that evening.

Jeremy Pei's act is pretty good.

Overall, I think the show is a tad too long. Maybe some of the performers should be taken out. The show was well put but I really think that some of the performers shouldn't perform, they kinda pull down the other's standard. Maybe some of the people will be too polite to talk about your act, let's hope more people will post here so that everyone can improve. Keep it up!

Hi Socgen :)

Thanks for coming to watch us, deeply appreciated! :)

Thanks for the kind words too on my act :)

BUT to be honest....this is one of the WORST show I ever did, I just worke up & am still very very upset over it......guess I am a perfectionist.

Tons of problems in stealing, flashing & Forgetfulness(snowstorm)....the last time I did this act is 1 year back in Lousiville at the SAM convention in US...think I learnt a lesson from here....we need to perform materials we usually perform, NOT once in a bluemoon act...cos the act will NOT be perfect...I should have perform my commercial bird act :(

NO excuse, I am totally OFF Form.....I am simply too exhausted to perform....slept at 4am, wake up at 8.30am for show & all the way till the end of the day.

I sincerely apologise. to all esp I am the opening act.....hope to perform again for u all to make up for this bad show...now will work very hard for this competition act & make sure I am very fresh(enough sleep) & ready before I perform this act again:)

Hi Extremer :)

Thanks for your help & support..esp your dad :)

Just a feedback, the show starts at 7.30pm...think is better to have the performers NOT come so early....at 12pm.....I came at 1.15pm after my morning show....think is better to have a bit later...etc 3.00pm....for those who wants to come early, they may do so to unload their props.....so we can have enough rest & proper lunch....some still need to order pizza backstage cos no foodcentre within walking distance nearby

Cos 12pm to reach is too early...we feel very bad when our sms sent to us to reminds us to be there at 12pm sharp....feel a bit stress when sms sent to us again...so I have to rush here & there....& the rehersal only starts at 3 plus....hmm.

Anyone we are learnt new things everyday...see u soon :)

Warmest Regards to all :)
Joe Yu :)

^ Joe , I'm impressed with your honesty and respect u so much more .

you were one of the more impressive performers of the evening due to the difficulty of ur productions though there were flaws in ur performance.

This is my review of the night

i share the same views about the MC as socgen, Alex gave the show much more gusto and life.

Joe Yu - Impressive dove productions and huge ending that no one else managed to accomplish throughout the night. However i felt ur positioning/posing/cheoreography and mid section routining were a bit weak. More dramatic + fluid movement would have made it an awesome act .

Charles choo - I didn't really enjoy his act because it looked liked a " Hey let's check out the props i have " kinda show

Kyle ravin 's act was solid but like socgen already pointed out he had a hard time communicating to the audience as he was quite tired. The curtains from his death bed of spikes should cover more as it was flashing at certain angles and i could see him crawling out and back.

Mystifying Imran - good dance choreography <-- probably the best of the night great movement but his main props also flashed and you could kinda see the girl moving in and out ...and the streamer bit.

Kiki Tay's act was funny & solid but too short and lack of big trick/finish

Tito Cris was charismatic but the act dragged a bit too long, thanks for the Fire wallet though .Love it !

Alex's Mask changing act was good but the changes between took a little to long and got a tad draggy

Jeremy Pei started out very impressively with a big bang but the rest of his act couldn't match up with his opening card manipulation segment, the ending "3 inch holish " illusion was a bit of a bummed way to end the night.

I felt too many of the performers did similar things e.g snowstorm/blizzard whatever it's called. Seeing it 3 times in a row with 3 performers killed the joy and a lot of the props had a similar theme e.g - " insert girl in box, stick poles or swords in box , take stuff out , girl reappears " and having 2 floating tables.

just my 2 cents , i'm a closeup magician so i dont' really have an idea of what to expect from a stage show but that's my honest perception of the night.

regards

Roland

I am really impressed by the dove act because this is the first time i see someone performing ' live' using dove instead of the usually video. And if i am not wrong, a lot of hardwork need to be done as coordination with the dove and taming them and many more. Spectacular ending to the routine.

I think those sitting on the top can see what Kyle ravin is doing during the deathbed of spike when the curtain was closed.

Mystifying Imran also flashed for the box performance, the holes on the side of the box can see through what is happening inside.

Thanks Guys for all your constructive feedback. Appreciate the honest comments given. We hope to get better everytime. The performers had done their best to put up these event sacrificing their Sunday time for us.
Hope to present to all another good show next year. Looking forward for all your support. Without your support this show won't be a success. :P

I would like to apologise on behalf of SAM to those who holding the ticket charge ticket. The ticket charge ticket was printed 7pm show but our show only schedule to start at 7.30pm.

Some guests were complaining that if the show start 7.30pm should have printed it. Most come before 7pm and got to wait outside the door.

It was then decided to open the door early to allow the guests to enter.
Sorry for those who came early and waited for a long time.

Overall I think there are improvements that we can improve on and given all your feedbacks i am sure the next show will be better. :P

^ cool

yea all the performers definitely put in a lot of hard work that's for sure

i could definitely tell Mystifying Imran made a lot of effort to get a whole dance crew to do the show

it's just a little unfortunate a few things flashed here and there

I have been to last year show and this year show.

before I make some comparison, Some comments about this year's show.
The performance I enjoyed most would be Tito Cris. I think it is his personality that made me enjoyed his show. For Charles act, it seems a bit draggy. I don't think this props are dusty, it is for effect. a smoky effect when he pulled it out.
I know his act has a theme but just a bit too long. Imran props was a bit small for us at the top to see. Kiki Tay's show is one of the most unique magic show i ever seen.

comments about the show. I felt the half before the interval was a bit too long and the second half was too short. I felt that it was a bit rush at the end. Andrew Kong, Kiki Tay show was like too rush. I was expecting it to be a bit longer.

Comparing last year's show, this year's show is more elaborate compared to last year show. However, I prefer last year show, it was more visual, more impressive etc. for the individual act, I prefer last year Imran act. it was more visual, looks more impressive.

generally the show was alright but didn't enjoy it as much as last year's show.

anyway, some comments about the comments that some of you put. I think the 2 floating table is alright. Jeremy performed his table first before Alex came out with his. It was a comedy effect. It looks alright though.

Adrian
