Hello, i was just wondering if the scorpion kit is worth the money. And, which do you prefer? This or US2k A.K.A ultra smoke 2000? Replies regarding this topic is very much appreciated, because i'm not sure which to choose.

I find the use of both rather limited. US2K is not very practical in Singapore and Scorpion kit is even less practical if you are doing "close up - walk around" magic. Having said that, i have used US2k a number of times since I am in Australia. More of an effect enhancer then anything else, but it sure help bring the "wow" level to a higher level.

Roland, I believe he is referring to the Scorpion Kit by Ellusionist:
http://www.ellusionist.com/order/Scorpion-Pro-UV-Package.phpYou'll have to make your own judgement on whether the scorpion kit is worth your while. Personally, I think that for that amount of money, you can get much better learning materials that'll help to advance your skills in magic.
Why are you interested in either of the products?

Try this..its new on murphy. Not sure how it goes but considering the description and the price, it should be quite good.

ok , after checking out everything and doing a bit of research i can say that u should NOT get the kit but just get the UV light and marker from the accesories page, and maybe the stamper in the long run
instructional guides and the dvd are not important as u can easily create ur own effects ideas once u get the kit. i feel that using the scorpion is like having an effect enhancer , but not a trick in itself ( like ET , US2000 and the likes ) so u could easily integrate the scorpion into ur current routines instead of buying the dvds and instructions.
so in the end it'll cost u like $20 US , which is pretty ok !
ps.let me know if u're ordering with ellusionist i'll like to piggyback on ur order if that's ok.

Frankly, I think that such effects have no edge over traditional closeup magic and hence hardly any practical use.
These UV 'effects' are at best just options for a revelation, and I do think that there are better ways to reveal a selected card or item than to whip out this thing and shine it on your arm or pebbles.
As for the Ultra Smoke, I would say it is a much better investment, as long as you resist the temptation to overuse it. It is very much magical in itself. Just use it once or twice in your act, else it may just lose its 'magic' and become a novelty/drama thing.
