Title: Ace's Coin Thru Bottle Dvd

noob_magicx - July 4, 2007 01:16 PM (GMT)
Hi guys, I got the dvd quite some time ago but due to some technical problems Ace had switched a new one for me so here is the review for it ^_^

QUOTE
S – Slam
A bottle is shown empty. The magician borrows a coin and asks the audience to stare at the bottom of the bottle making sure there is nothing hidden. The magician then slams the coin through the bottom of the bottle. The coin is stuck inside the bottle as the coin is bigger than the mouth of the bottle. Everything can be examined.

Pros
- Simple gimmick construction
- Big impact for an ending
- simple sleights
- NOT angle sensitive

Cons
- Hard to start for performance if it is a casual walk around

QUOTE
S 2 - Sealed and Stuck
A factory sealed bottle is shown empty on all sides. The magician borrows a coin and melts it through the factory sealed bottle. Like Slam the coin is stuck inside the bottle too. Everything can be examined

Pros
- very visual penetration
- cheap gimmicks
- process relatively simple
- part of the gimmick can be reused for quite a while

Cons
- angle sensitive
- takes a while for gimmick preparation

QUOTE
S 3 - Signed, Sealed and Stuck.
Similar to S 2 but the coin is signed by the audience. Everything can be examined.

The difference for the two effects will be the need for extra sleights but it is worth it just for that signature as it really drives in the impact.

QUOTE
S 2.1 – The impromptu version of S2, where you can borrow a bottle and do the effect. The bottle is not factory sealed in this version.

Pros
- combinable with a signed coin
- manageable sleights and timing

no cons that i can think of

:D

OVERALL

The effects are surprisingly easy to do but requires some effort on the construction of gimmicks ( it's worth it B) ). In my opinion, i feel that this effect will require a certain level of crowd control and also your timing and misdirection. (just a little will do ;) )

Enough of the contents here's about the quality of the dvd:

the audio is not recorded directly with a mike thus it will sound a little unclear but it still can be heard.

the video is clear and and angles are changed for different parts of explanations

the teaching is great and clear. It covers every point from the angles to additional tips.

In conclusion, honestly I'm relatively new to coin through bottle effects but to me it has great effects which are definitely reputation builders. I hope this review helps ;)

Thanks for the review! =)

I've pm you the ways to perform the effect surrounded. I already included the handling for the surrounded method in my new DVDs. =)

Here are some of the other reviews and comments.

"I recently got sealed n stuck dvd and in my (opinion) its a really great effect,i'm not knocking the other ctb effects but this is good i stood in front of a mirror to see how it looks and it is fantastic!"

" I am currently searching for the ultimate coin through bottle effect and I think Sealed and Stuck is it, it is the most visual without any funny jerks or covering moves. The price is also quite a moving factor."

Joseph Kim

"I'm pretty sure that Ace's demo video I just seen, is a lot better than the origional demo he put up on the Cafe. And guaranteed, I'll be bringing it in to my shop once it hits distributors. Or directly from him if need be.

There are tons out there already, and probably tons more coming but nothing revolutionary like Ace's"

"I think Sealed and Stuck is a very visual and baffeling effect. A real magician fooler. It does require good slieght of hand and audience management skills. This is not a negative. In the right setting, the extra effort, can fool anyone."

"Fantastic! By far one of the most visual coin through bottles I've ever come across, and trust me, I've come across a LOT!"
