Hi, all Magical, my Church wanted me to do a Gospel Illusion on stage this Sept 2007, but i do not had any big props to do so, may i know where can I borrow or some of you can lend me your's props, thanks. B)

Though unusual, I'm sure there're people here who'd be happy to help. But you do need to have a rough idea of what kind of act you intend to do - there are such a great variety of props, it's quite hard to lend you anything if you don't know what you're looking for.

It might help if you could put out a list of what items you're looking for. I mean, it would hardly be appropriate for somebody to offer you a head chopping guillotine for a gospel show right? :)

MAD, I don't think you really need big illusion for the event. What I think they want is to do magic related to Gospel . Really got to crack your brain hard to link up a routine for it. I am sure many people here can offer you ideas.

Few ideas for you to pound on.
1) Professor nightmare : Illustration using the Father, Son and Holy Spirit united as one (You may want to draft your pattering) Can spend ard 10mins just on story telling for this one.
2) Linking Rings or Ninja Rings : Illustration using Praying and attending church services will link up a closer relationship with GOD. Failure will result in a breaking of the link just so easily. (Some ideas for u to think more on)
3) Cups and balls : Illustration of God is always there for u even u think he is not.
4) Colouring book: Illustration of A plain Simple life that u lead, closing the book u come across God and you found the something that lacking in life. the book change to pictures. Close the book again. Getting closer to the Lord you find your life more meaningful and so colourful. Pls note I am putting in more summary more. You may want to make a long story out from this.

Note i am suggesting using some of the simpler available classic magic, simple yet easy to spread the gospel of the Lord. No need those big stuff to do so. Hope it may set u a direction to work on and come out with more ideas. :P

Stagewise, no need big props.
cause the bigger the prop, the bigger you have to be. otherwise you run the risk, of the prop getting the audiences attention more than you.

Colour Changing Silk : black silk -> white silk

How Jesus came to earth to take away our sins.


Professors Nightmare:

How people with different (intelligence, abilities , etc) are loved by God nomatter how people see them.


however i feel that event though it is a church event, only the last trick should be gospel. so that you earn the right to be heard.

Here are a few effects I can suggest to you.

1. Turn real tap water into good french wine
2. Multiply sandwiches
3. Walk on water ***
4. Heal the sick (recommended: grow back severed limb)
5. Rise from the dead

So you can pick a few and I think none of them really need big props. Now that you have a few effects perhaps you can spend some time crafting your routine and the method.

hmmm.. i wonder using magic to share the gospel, what kind of effects should we do? Should be do something too unbelievable which gave people an wrong idea? Just like What Criss Angel had given many people all kinds of impression.

I'm not very sure what effects are Rise from the dead, heal the sick,etc. I just thought that if we are using magic to share the good news. We shouldn`t give e impression to allow people to believe in what we are doing then we will be sharing our own ablities to others.

Well, I watched gospel magicians giving people e impression that they have wonderful powers to do things that people can`t. Well, i guess as a magician/illusionist we knew that it's all illusion, sleights of hand. All this are for entertainment, surprise for the eyes.

That's just my little suggestions, not trying to point out anything. :D

Dude, magic is meant to look impossible ie. magicial. Otherwise, it's not called magic in the first place. The difference is that for gospel magic, it needs to tell a story. A story from the bible. That's just it. Criss Angel does not do gospel magic from my knowledge, so, I have no idea why you bring him into the picture.

yeah, magic is to look impossible. I brought Criss angel into the picture because when we do magic, especially gospel magic we have to give the right impression to the others. As I observe around, many people said Criss angel have special powers,etc. Sometimes, it's funny when you heard people saying he was possessed. :lol:

As a Christian, i doubt it is a good idea to have people thinking that we have special powers. Instead of depending on God's power, we are creating our own.
