Title: Lennart Green's lecture
Description: REVIEW

GordonLi - July 11, 2007 04:10 PM (GMT)
It was a good lecture and he was a great performer.

It started off highly technical, but later on, the effects, techniques, ideas and sleights that he shared were practical and devious.

Haiz. I thought the lecture was supposed to be from 8 to 10pm? When i reached the lobby at 8, i saw on an lcd display that the lecture is at the 4th floor, but then i looked again and it said "7:00pm - 10:30pm"... i was like  . So i thought maybe they had made an error of sorts and decided to head straight up anyway. When i reached the fourth floor, absolutely no one was there. Even the reception table was empty. I looked around and saw the door to the lecture, it was then that i heard appluase coming from inside the room. Not wanting to be rude and enter halfway through the lecture i decided to just leave. Disappointment man. :(

bigbadwolf - July 11, 2007 05:44 PM (GMT)
???

You should have walked right in. A couple of us were late but the lecture started at 8pm not 7.30pm.

Anyway its a waste to walk away from such an entertaining lecture, especially when you were only a door away from it.

I pity you for how much good stuff you missed.

The magic was so good i almost didn't want to know how it's done.

Almost. B)

yeah, seeing him doing his sleights real live is incredible, flawless, beautiful, elegance with that sense of inbuild crudeness and clumsiness that is the fun of Green's Magic.
Its pure pleasure watching him performed last night.

chteo - July 12, 2007 01:11 AM (GMT)
Think about how laymen like to claim that "our hands are fast".

Now after seeing Lennart performing all those sleights and false shuffles, I can't help but feel that way too!

He made me feel like i know nothing about card magic.

Lol.

Yes flawless is the word!

noob_magicx - July 12, 2007 01:42 AM (GMT)
It was unbelievable. Still can't believe i just watched a world renowned magician perform live right in front of me last night.

His moves are impossible to be suspected to the layman. Every detail and actions helps to create a image of clumsiness and a fairly mixed deck. It's just like what they said, flawless.

:o

Will there be any chance for more magicians to come by? Really hope to attend other magic lecture such as this one

Yea, I saw it. May consider going? Anyone who's going? I never really heard about him much. But the reviews are really good.

There's another good one by Marc Oberon

voodoolong - July 12, 2007 07:47 AM (GMT)
Yup.. What he done is all SO nice!! The dinosaur he done was so funny. Those who went should get it. All the false shuffles and cuts are very good. He taught so many, so much till i have too much to remember. Forgot to bring along a note book or what, wasted.

He is also a very friendly guy. Mixing all those dramas and clumsyness together. Even wrapping his whole head with aluminium foil!! Haha.

Think i will be attending the murray lecture. It will be another amazing lecture i guess.

Before last night, the only Lennart Green's performance I ever saw was his demonstration of Laser Deal on Penguin. It felt so surreal when I saw it "live" last night. It was one of those effects that made me go, "@#$NFW!!!" And yes, it still amazed me even after I knew how it was done.

He went through a lot of technical stuff in the first part and to tell the truth, I was a bit bored by it (too dry). I enjoyed the performances better. But still, he gave me with some good ideas on f**** shuffles and cuts.

The second part was soooo much better. The self-working effect he did with the 3 guys (the CNN, FBI, KGB etc...) really blowed me away. THAT effect, IMO, is well worth the price of the whole lecture. Though I forgot the first revelation he did. Anybody kind enough to PM me on this?

Of course, I got the "cut-off" glass as a souvenir... hehe... thought I might just ask for his towel (which he kept wiping his face and pisses off dry-gin...) but I decided against it...

PalmLine - July 12, 2007 10:31 AM (GMT)
The first revelation was spelling out "Leonardo Da Vinci".

Hope that helps :P

P.S. Leonardo Da Vinci is spelt with 15 letters so you gotta make a little 'accident' to make the selected card appear on the 15.

Hey thanks a lot palmline!!

<Aaron> - July 12, 2007 01:25 PM (GMT)
WOW. This lecture is the best!! He is such a funny and nice guy. His sleights are super amazing, especially the snap deal. He does it sooo convincingly and fast. I love his gags. Dang cool. i forgot to bring my blank cards down for autographs?!! :(

YES! We should mirror Sweden and have a 6 day seminar. I wouldn't mind going for it. We should have him here more often!!

Oh will he be releasing any lecture notes for this? He mentioned he left his notes somewhere. I would love to obtain a copy of the notes since i can't really remember everything he taught that night.

P.s. When will the pictures be posted? ^_^

yeah i know... but work ended late and i couldn't go down any earlier. Tried my best to rush down already, hoping to catch a last minute entrance. Anyway, part of why i didn't wanna walk in when i reached there, was because when i saw that it was 7:00-10:30pm i thought 1 hour had passed since the lecture started already. If i knew it had just started, i might have walked in. oh well...

Anyway, great to know you guys had a good time~!!!

BangHao - July 12, 2007 03:22 PM (GMT)

Amazing lecture....very entertaining, and it is always a pleasure to see the truly skilled at work.

What he taught in the first part was definitely not for the beginner/intermediate magi - mastering those sleights really takes discipline and many many hours in front of a mirror before test showings to spectators can be made.

The 2nd part was a lot more practical (I think) for the vast majority of us - simpler effects with very strong impact. I didn't like the 3rd revelation too much, but the first two were great.

Thanks again to Aloy and IBM for putting this together at short notice!

PalmLine - July 13, 2007 05:03 PM (GMT)
oh yea.. how can i forget! Thanks so much Aloy and SMC for the opportunity. Not being a member of SAM or IBM, I think I do miss out on the celebrity magicians doing lectures here.. So thanks for the sneak peek into the magic club life.

For those who don't know me, I was the malay wearing a black shirt with black pants (thought it was a formal affair). I don't know most of you guys on the forums but glad to have got to know one Marcus(what's your nick?) who I met in the toilet and who thought that I was AhliShufi, one Nick Amir Singh and Raoul(I'm guessing your nick is Raoul) and got to meet my old pal Jenson(what's your nick?) who helped me out in the semis of MU2006. Hope to get to know more of you here in future!

Regards
Syafiq

wow...judging from the turnout and the comments, guessed i missed a once-in-a-lifetime event. *sigh* too bad, i had something very important that night. If there's another lecturer, will try my best to support it.

Broderick - July 15, 2007 02:16 PM (GMT)
